I'm a very considerate driver. In fact, since getting one, I've made an extra effort to let people out at junctions and basically not be a dick!

I have driven Scania and Ivecos and a couple other big uns. The fact that I'm legal to drive one now, having passed my test after 5 days training 3 years ago, and not having driven one for most of the time since is terrifying!
 
It's like bike, you don't forget... You just need a couple of hours of training to learn the new technology, not so hard :)

And 3,2,1 she picked up a speeding NIP after having it 6 days which is on its way in the post (according to the leasing company who have also stung me for £12.50 admin fee).
 
Any clues on a decent motor that's cheap for a young lad to insure? My son turns 17 next month so after spending years and thousands getting my own car insurance costs under control it's time for directline to bend me over once more....

Haha, your probably know, driving these little hot hatches, everyone wants to either sit up your arse or race you off the lights. Tbh, I had a mid life crisis and fancied something a little sporty,(back to my youth days) lol. I'm not really the sort to thrash it round everywhere, but I do enjoy the open roads when it's quiet though.:)

Your best bet if buying a new car is going to vauxhall, they have corsas with free insurance. There also maybe other dealerships that possibly do the same deal.

This is happening right now at Chez diver.

Was going to get my daughter a Citroen C1 or Toyota Aygo which are gp 2/3 insurance for a year (Uni in 2017) and missus keep her 2007 mini. Idea was that we would fork out say 5k and then sell in a year for 4K or there about. Anyway, we tried on the off chance having her own insurance on Caths mini (group 10) and it was cheaper!!! The company is called Ingenie and is a black box young driver company. Thats how Cath ended up with the license loser above.

Just make sure that your son is the registered keeper and add yourself as a named driver on his insurance as it brings it right down. Try some "ghost" quotes where you amend the date of test pass to get a rough idea.

Also, if he is driving on a provisional whilst learning then don't buy a yearly policy (unless he plans on learning for a year?)

Get a temp cover leaner driver policy- I'm just about to use a company called "Collingwood" and its about 200 quid for 3 months. She's had ten lessons, a few more and ill take her out for some practice, trying very hard to keep my mouth shut.

noticed this when I've driven it over the past few weeks or so. Everyone wants to goad you, even people in vans!!

I just move over, let them sail by and sit there happy in the knowledge that the 1800 of my English litres, coupled with a supercharger would dust them if required.

Problem I have is we only have one car - a sporty BMW, so not a chance in hell he's getting insured on that (as much as he might like to). So I need another motor. I'll check out the corsa deals and those insurers. Thanks diver

Ended up hanging on to the Navara until this year. Dallied with a Discovery but ended up with a Merc E220D.

Anyone else updated their wheels, or are we not travelling these days ?
 
Never driven only cycle and Walk.....keeps me out of the gyms.. do about 7k commuting back and forth to work on bike and usually 15,000- 20,000 steps count on my phone every day in work and walking the dog.. could do another 50k at weekend on bike just getting around.somerines more during summer....
