Weekend Plans

East Bristol Brewery trail on Sunday where I drag myself around twice a year. Daughters and boyfriends joining so will be a nice few beers & food truck nom nom interrupted by some walking in between.

Learned to tone it down from my first trip when they started a few years back from a pint in each to maybe 2/3rds to enable a finish. And not to do the return run!

Then nothing much else on until Tuesday and off to Porto.

Went once just before covid and adored the place so am excited about a revisit.

Last planned trip got postponed during covid and ended up in either Scotland or Newcastle (one was meant to be Porto and one Barcelona but forget which) with re-arranged flights. Both were very enjoyable too but not quite Portugal :)
Porto is very nice, lovely people, great food 😍

Ah, I haven't done the EBBT for ages.....

Let me know if you want any Porto recommendations, we went to some lovely spots a couple of years back

Get back down to it, it has grown so most places have music and food now. I think only a couple did the first couple of times.

Always up for suggestions so fire away via this thread or private message.

We are staying right down in the Ribeira area next to the Duoro but willing to travel.

Couple of places we enjoyed:

1) https://maps.app.goo.gl/ud6nYf2B8bxRVLWX9 Nice wine and cheese bar down on the front, but set back up a touch. Nowhere near as touristy or expensive as the others on that strip, plus you get to guillotine your cheese...
2) https://maps.app.goo.gl/ud6nYf2B8bxRVLWX9 This whole area is a bit out of the way up the hill, but much more local and quite studenty, nice strip of bars and light food places
3) https://maps.app.goo.gl/ferbzCJWkNhG47EV9 Tiny restaurant- BOOK! One of the best meals I have ever had
4) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francesinha Make sure you eat one of these mad bastards. You'll need a sleep afterwards and not want any food for the rest of the day, but it's worth it. This is where I had mine: https://maps.app.goo.gl/8G6oECExgGGTvRrK9

Added those, you had me at "guillotine"

Kids Arsenal session not on this week, but will still fit in a pizza on Friday night.

Saturday morning we're on a train to Bath for a couple of days. Got a couple of decent restaurants booked, and tickets for the Roman Baths. Have the Arsenal game on Saturday scheduled in too.

Never been before and it's only 1 hr 22 on the train.*

*plus tube time and out local bit of the Picadilly line is closed for 2 weeks so will need to sort route

Last week had a real family holiday in Watchet, Somerset. Mrs' says the dogs needs a holiday each year 🙄 Surfing Croyde, Paddle Boarding at Wimbleball, crabbing each day at Watchet and lots of parks with lad/dog 😁

Currently in Cumbria working, going to climb some mountains.

Thurs - The Streets at Piece Hall, Halifax with 9 mates

Fri - son and I go to Solfest until Monday. Mrs is coming Sunday as she has a spa booked 🙃

Heading south to Andalucia on Saturday for a few days, specifically Herradura and catching up with old flatmate and wife. Then popping over West to the historic quarter in Malaga too (top tips please @ibiza77 if you're reading). Then stopping off in Valencia on the way back. Was so looking forward to the Smile concert but sadly cancelled. Will still make most of it anyway. Been a few years since we hired the faultiest campervan known to man (from cowboys at Malaga Airport) and somehow lived to tell the tale.

You’re always welcome in the South West Buckers!

Friday is the other half’s final radiotherapy session, so recovery starts then. Depending on how she is, it’ll mostly be a quiet weekend at home, with maybe a pop out to a summer fete or something wholesome like that
Best of all good thoughts to her/you guys mate

Solfest cancelled the first day of their festival and asked people not to arrive until tomorrow. Hope the site (and people) are all bearing up - glad i didnt book the extra day ticket now and that it passes by tomorrow 😅

Outside gig to look forward to tonight 😁
