An absolutely great weekend in NYC.
Last night, saw Dusky's North American "live" debut at the Warsaw in Brooklyn. Very unique venue - it's a Polish community center by day/most weeknights and they have a lot of live music (mostly punk rock shows ironically). I'll say that I did really enjoy the show. We couldn't really see the stage setup, so I do think the whole "live" element of it was kind of overblown. But any time you can see music of that caliber, nevermind a band's live debut, for $20 and then also drink Zywiec and eat homemade kielbasa, potato pierogis with fixings for $10 to boot, that's a great night out.
Afterwards we went to Jackmaster B2B Mike Servito and Dennis Ferrer at Output. Was absolutely rammed, and seems as though a lot of folks were Eric Prydz ticket holders who came last minute because his warehouse party was cancelled. I'll be honest that I was pretty worse for wear at this point but it hit the spot. Mike Servito actually hung out in the crowd for a little while after his set, he seems like a really legit dude. And I'm a big fan of Dennis Ferrer so always glad to see him.
March as a whole has some pretty great lineups. I'm relatively new to the whole scene but I'll say that I think Brooklyn/NYC has really grown to become a powerhouse in the non-summer months - I'd stack it up with any other city in the world in terms of the quality and diversity of the talent promoters are bringing in to both clubs and DIY spaces/warehouses.
