URGENT APPEAL!!

Wait for it......................... can I hear Judge Jules entering the forum? ;)

With Jules, it's not about the music. Ive heard him play pretty good trancey sets. People don't like him coz he is a self-opinionated t.wat and he looks like one too.

Loadsa dj's have played at dc10 but don't make a "big me up" about it..

Unnanaouced djs are exciting. I'v heard loads of people say that Jule's so called funky sets are pretty damn good. But better than Jo Mills or Tania Volcano? I doubt it. Is CircoLoco 'selling out'?

This is the most snobbish thing you will ever hear me say but:

do we really want dc10 full of teenage brits partying on after Judgement Sunday

whew, got that off me chest

LOL

Is he here?*looking around frantically*

I better confess, me is Jules wifey Shirley, he asked me to step in here, and talk some justice for him. He is fed up with all the stick and as he isnt so keen on coming on here himself, so he asked me to do it.

ps. On a serious note, Im not a fan of Jules Jules, never was, just prefer to talk from my heart and what I feel to be true, & it would be boring if everyone had the same opinion of Jules and sad for him, he deserves some postivity too, as he might have a hard time with it.

If this rumour is true, he's clearly not "going back to his roots," whatever they are. If he feels guilty about being such a disgrace, he should stop doing his God-awful Judgement night and stop playing utter shite on his show.

Since he's not doing that, the DC10 thing looks like a blatant attempt to claim credibility with the "cool" crowd. I promise you, if he plays, and everybody boos, he'll still go on his show and tell the world the place went off or something.

Quite why CircoLoco people would agree to this, is beyond me

Sorry, but got to agree with N8 on this one. Everyone thinks its cool to have a go at him-give the man a chance . If his set is poor-then feel free to say so. As for his personality-ok his one liners are cheesy, but there just a bit of fun.

Got to remember that clubbing is supposed to be fun-lets stop being too critical ;)

I get enormous fun out of slagging off Jules. It's the most fun in clubland.
It's the latest craze

Yep, people seem to hate him with a vengance. I mean, he hasnt hurt anyone has he. Ok, its not been the best of moves when it comes to quality and credibility, but we all do things we are less than proud of, in one way or another. Its what happens when you let the ego run away with you.

Last year in Space, I got chatting to this british bloke, and the fist thing he asked me was ' do you like Judge Jules'? I was like, ' NO'. and he lit up in joy and shook my hand, and went on to tell me Judge Jules had been on the same flight as them, and what a total t w a t, well he has been, but that doesnt mean thats all he is. He really has become the scapegoat of clubland, and I reckon he's totally fed up with it, as he sold his credibility to commercialism.

Hey Jules - how come u chose the username Ascendia ???

Only joking.

One quick point - I have been around a long time before Judge Jules was even playing out and no for a fact he was never 'cutting edge' !!!

Maybe you could point me in the direction of some of his productions/mixes/club dates and I will check them out.

I am not declaring I know he used to be this guru of house that suddenly fell to the pits of the lowest common denominator. I simply remember him having a show on Kiss FM every friday night, where the music he played was nothing like what he has later been known to spin, also his personality was not annoying but rather instead clued up and dry SOH. He used to have other DJ's come in on his show, and they would do a listen through of the new realises that week, and give them points. If my memory serves me right, he had one show, with playing records and another one after with other well-known DJ guests(a couple every week), rating new tunes, and the show was called Judge and the Jury. Hence the name. Anyway, I am in no form or shape, a fan of the Jules, but felt to point out, he didnt always act like a fool. Kiss FM used to be a credible dance radio, with the quality of british dance having regulary slots. Many of them was later head-hunted by Radio 1. It went down hill from there, for many of them after a while. Basically I think Radio 1(it is the BBC after all) start to dictate their style. Hence they either leave or get shatt on. Judge, has obviously choosen to let them decide his image, now..... we see the result. People like Danny Rampling and Pete Tong, just about, managed to save their credibility. There are many more examples, Im sure of selling out to Radio 1. I dont live in the UK anymore, so Im not so updated on the radio and what not, but know the BBC. and I know most of the DJ's are muppets and not much to do with the Dance scene. I mean, Seb fontaine? Fergie?, Dave Pierce? and the good ones, like Danny Rampling has left. Its what happens when you sell your soul to corporatism.   They dont want the underground good DJ's. they want the sheep, the imitators or if not, make them into some.

I'm not trying to be cool.....I just don't like the music he plays and looking at him behind the decks and all the connotations it brings to mind would just be too much.
I think I have a right to be discerning because it's my holiday that I've forked out a lot of dosh to go on....why then should I be giving chances to an established radio 1 jock????
I'd happily give a chance to a budding bedroom dj with a passion for music.

Everyone in their right mind, thinks he is a fool, because of the what he plays and the way he acts, but that doesnt have to mean he hasnt got another side, which if he let the grotesque charicature that he has become lie, and let the real Jules out maybe you would be surprised.

BUT I DON'T (repeat) DON'T WANT TO!!
I'm well aware that he might have some talent and I'm sure his 'funky sets' (agreed, v annoying term) are the best thing since Little Louie (not) but I really would rather not hear them!

I felt I needed to say that again! I've got nothing against the man, I'm sure he's lovely, BUTIDON'TWANTTOSEEHIMDJ!!!

Please stop trying to force the guy on me! ;)

But your point is still not valid - I do remember Judge and the Jury and it WAS NOT an underground , credible quality dance music record show.

It was an un-educated house by numbers latest release show.

I am not arguing about the fact that maybe he did play different stuff before he became even more commercial. I am arguing the point that he has NEVER played quality house music.

This point is a FACT.

I understand what you are trying to say but you cant polish a turd.

:) Very good.

Right, let me confess, in 93 I was a mere pupess, I had just started going to the Ministry and although the music there was of prime quality, and although I was never a fan of Judge Jules, I remember we used to listen to his show on fridays, but saying that I used to listen to Steve Jackson too, which also, although hilarious, played a lot of commercial stuff. Anyway Judge used to be background music when we had our friday dinner and occasionaly I would jump up and tape a tune or two or a mix, but I was NEVER a dedicated follower of him. NO way. I do apologise, as to my music taste was not so diserning back then, by the sounds of my tapes, but nevertheless, he was not utter rubbish, but I didnt like a lot of his stuff mainly because it was too hard/progressive. I better get ut of this ditch though before you bury me in the excrements of Jules remains. :p
