Top tip: Watch out for pickpockets at all times

Think of someone doing football tricks ie stepovers infront of you but without a football! Then just bumping into you like they had lost their balance...definitely just wearing jean 3/4s now and should be ok

Ive posted this in another thread but thought I would drop it in here as well as this is probably more relevant

My son was as at Hardwell last night at Ushuaia, within five minutes of entering and heading to towards the front he had his gold chained snatched from behind around his neck from someone in the crowd. As it was packed he struggled and punched out but in a matter of seconds it was gone. He is gutted as it was given to him by his Grandmother as a 21st birthday present which she bought a couple of months before she died as she knew she wasnt going to be around to give him it. After doing a bit of googling it seems that this type of theft is not unheard of at Ushuaia (and probably other big clubs too)

I know these type of things happen but when its close to you it makes you realise how disgusting it is and so public. He's home tomorrow so hoping he gets over it.

The moral of the story is not to wear bling in public, better still don't take them on holiday.!!

Rule of thumbs:Always be on alert in ibz or whatever place when u got valuable things such as money cellphone...
you are a mobile purse for these scumbags, so don't ease their job
For now i' ve never been pickpocketed in ibz as i'm aware of all these tricks, cross fingers, i'm just afraid for the renting car been glass broken when parking , i 'll choose P places in the streets than bora bora P for example...
ps:i've already seen some girls robbing a bottle of beer on a terrace bar at amnesia opening 14 :D from a a bloke

How does the little dance work? They actually come up to you and dance and put hands on your hips? Guess they are on the look out for people wearing lose shorts, cant see it working so well with jeans...

Yeah they come up and dance with you and rip you off then. I'm paranoid about this but ill only be bringing my cellphone out.

But my paranoia has extended to the airport. I'm trying to stuff everything into a carry-on as I think my luggage will get ripped off too. It's bad enough the clubs are robbing you but they do it to your face at least. Don't need these jerks as well

Yeah my mate got done in Space last year like that. Some bloke danced infront of him, by the time you think that is weird.... oh shit his wallet was gone. Only 30eur in it and his driving license but you just feel stupid. Really have to just go out with the bare minimum and any shorts I wear out at buttoned

We've already made the decision to leave our Apple Watches at home and not even bother bringing them to Ibiza - too risky especially with how easily they come off.

I'm so torn on my phone though, as there are always a couple of pictures to take while we are out an about. A bum bag might have to be the way forward, but I'll definitely make sure the Mr is safe with his stuff in front pockets etc!

^^im going forward with my woman's wallet idea from a couple pages back for my phone and just looping the loop around my belt. Also bringing an old phone if I get too paranoid to take pictures with.

It sucks we have to take precautions like this

You must be able to get something better than a ladies handbag. Have a look into some running accessories. I think there is a company called SPIB that do small bags to put valuables in (whilst out running)

Ive just seen a comment on a blog post about some guys at the bottom of the West End. Don't know if its 100% true obviously but FYI to all:

The worst thing seeing is the gang of 20 theives robbing tourists as they walk down the bottom of the west end outside koppas restaurant and the chemist it’s horrible to watch there 3am till 5.30am doing this football trick something needs to be done obviously nobody knows about this….

Yeah then they say the back streets are worse what do you do? I think they need some form of tourist police that they use in Thailand and Mexico. Even if they stood at the bottom of West end would make a difference

This is akin to the black women 'robbing' the tourists on the promenade outside of Orange Corner but asking where they are from, shaking there hand and fixing a piece of thread then threatening them for money.....this is during the day!!

Agree with the need for tourist police to stop the 'scams' against tourists whether legal or other.

Regarding the person worried about luggage being stolen i would say dont worry, i travel a fair bit and im usually always at the carousel before our luggage has even been put on. Obviously if you get delayed by something from leaving the plane to going to collect baggage then maybe an opportunist could strike but not enough to worry about.
I was at Bora Bora last year at a night time party and a guy had his big s6 phone easily visibleat it was bigger than his back pocket! I told him to put it somewhere else. But if you got robbed with this sort of relaxed approach to crime then you need to wise up. Crime is rife in most destinations, so just be sensible and dont promote yourself, i certainly wouldnt let it worry you prior to your holiday, its not worth it for a set of scumbags

good point about laggage at airport,we seem to put our trust in everyone.not nice if someone walks away or gets away with your case.put the biggest marker on you case as you can.so it sticks out.i;ve been going to ibiza for 34 years.seen a few bags gone over the years mainly from hotels where they can easy walk round the pool area.a lot get nicked from the cruise ships as they come off.Is easy pickings while your on hols.more relaxed.mine you at least jet atps have put better fencing round the lower floors.just don;t flash what you;ve got and same with your money.

... Very helpful information for us. I'm waiting at the Guardia Civil to file charges ... Last night they broke into a house that I rent out and stole most of the valuable stuff, passports, everything... The house has an alarm. It took us a while to see the small marks on the terrace door through which they came in. The day before there was a GREY SEAT, older model, parked in front of the house. Two girls were sitting in with dreadlocks that were put op. My clients saw them when they came back from the supermarket. Then the girls asked if the house was for rent. The day before there was a WHITE PICK-UP with one man standing there. When they saw him, he asked if the neighbouring land was for sale, which didn't make too much sense. Three lovely couples got their personal belongings stolen and their short holiday ruined, which they work hard for all year, by these people. The security agent from RED alarmas who came last evening (around 23:00) told me that they alone have 15 cases like this per night in Ibiza, and that the police doesn't have time to really do something about it.
My beloved island, what has become of you these last years... Sad, so so sad...

My mates villa got robbed 4 days ago, 8 of them, lap tops, cash the lot, but left there passports !!!
