Too old for ibiza?

Aren't you going to Ibiza this year? I have been saying every year when I go to Ibiza that "maybe this will help me get it out of my system".... but it just makes it worse in that I'm addicted to the island! :lol:

Its a scary and sad thought I have to admit because I love my music so much and have so many friends in that industry - but we never seem to have time to catch up if its not in a club.

I really did feel "a bit wrong" last time I went clubbing, it wasnt what anyone said to me, but at one point I looked at myself in the toilets and it was like "oh Steph, have a word with yourself!" Everyone else looked so young and basically fresh faced even though they were f**ked.

We have started having "coffee table nights" instead, a load of us round at someone's house, playing tunes, having a laugh and a good old dance. Its nice to have a sofa to sit on when you need it..:lol: :lol:

We are in Ibiza this year - 2 weeks in June but its different out there - for the past 2 years we have really only done 2-3 clubs in a week and chilled through the day, and I think this year we will just play it by ear and see how it goes....
 
My taste in music has changed as well as where I choose to go clubbing. Gone from trance and hard house to psy-trance where there are loads of old hippies in the clubs/at the parties8):lol:
I celebrate my 36th birthday in Ibiza this year and it will probably be my last holiday there for a while:? But for you older clubbers I'd still recommend Namaste (Wednesday nights) or Sunday nights at Las Dalias- brings a whole new meaning for clubbing in Ibiza!
 
im on my 20 year ibiza anniverary this year and still going strong!!!!!!! you can never be too old. mind you i did go there first with my parents in 1987 so not sure if that counts!
 
Can't understand how anyone can even think of giving up clubbing because of the age thing. People sometimes stop doing things they love because of other things eg. relationships, money, health, kids etc... but age no. I will never give up something I love doing - I must admit it has changed a bit since we had our son a couple of years ago - financially we can only afford to go Ibiza twice a year now HA.

I'm 33 this year and my other half is 46 although we are quite blessed with youthful looks, we tend to pass for 25 and early 30s.

I dont think either of us will ever give up the love for the music...... the buzz of the crowd....... the random ridiculousness...... :D
 
It's no secret really..... lager, cava (keeping the fluids up) dancing all day/and or night (to keep fit) and then anti-wrinkle cream applied liberally at appropriate intervals!
 
I never knew there was quite so many old gits on this forum!!!! :p

As a fellow "codger" I'm having a bit of a clubbing renaissance at present and although I think i can hold my own with these whippersnappers, I do worry abit.

I know what will make me feel younger... dressing up like a superhero!

Now where did I put those glowsticks?! :spank:

Same for me too I thought get it out of my system in 2005 when I returned to the island for the first time in 5 years (had gone every year from 94' prior to that) but that just proved to make me even more addicted to the place and probably an absolute nightmare when I couldn't go last year! My love of all things House and Ibiza couldn't be any stronger and I'm going to be 36 (omg!) this year just before we go! Sarah is completely the opposite of me though she loves it when we're there but can take it or leave it and would hang up her dancing shoes tomorrow and would spend all the dosh we're blowing on our hols on something constructive like the house! (if you meet Sarah in a club in Ibiza this year she'll be off talking random cod**** to some poor soul somewhere!)I don't go for any of the 'carry on' business I used to though anymore... when it's time for sleep it's time for sleep now! Having read some of the reviews from last year I have to take my hat off to some and think 'fair play' you hardcore! The clubs now are only one of the factors of why I love the place so much though! The beaches, the restaurants, sunsets and the meeting new like minded people all add to what makes the place so special for me...well the majority of of us probably!... and why we don't want to give it up! I don't get to go clubbing in England as much as I'd like these days so when my mum wants to have her grand daughter's for a fortnight now she lives in Spain where else am I gonna go? ;-)

I agree!! I hire a car and try to make it to 2-3 beaches a day..but still TRY to make it out each night... I only did a couple of carry on sessions last year, but will try my best to do better next time!:lol:
 
well i propose an old codgers get together/dance off sometime soon then..... if not in ibiza then in london. gotta get in training for ibiza!!! how about one of the bank hols weekends then, (EXTRA RECOVERY DAY!)

A depressing thread:cry:

A few weeks back met up with a few m8's one Sunday evening and went to see Twang in a pub near Leeds Uni. By 11.30, I didn't want to go home (some things never change:oops: ) and couldn't persaude anyone else that going to Space until the arly hours was a good idea. I was not really dressed for clubbing, more for a student band night but was up for some decent music after a couple of hours of out of tune noise.

I arrived to see a healthy queue outside space, a top night in prospect perhaps? Taking my place in the queue and waiting patiently, got to the front and the door picker chap said "not tonight":oops: :oops: :oops: . First time in my life I had been turned away from a club club type club, I ended up in another club for half an hour and went home sulking!! I was thinking about the age thing all the way home!

For the record, 35 has been and gone for me, my misus is a good few years younger than me though. I will prob look like a dirty old man in another 10 years time8O

I have always thought clubbing would evolve like the soul all nighters. Folks of all ages go to those events as soul has been around for eons. Dance music is quite new and those who were into the scene in the beginning as young 'uns are now the old 'uns. But why should we stop enjoying the music and atmosphere of a dance club simply because we can't do triple summersualts from a standing start?

Also in light of the new league table of the harm certain tings do to us, I am safe to cane the backside outa the little fellas for a while longer :)
 
:D I have thought about this a lot...I'm 38 though I can't really believe it. The thing I worry about is that I don't think you always know when you're out of place and looking ridiculous! I dread the kind of moment puppylover mentions above:cry: ...parties\sessions with like minded mates a lot less stressful!!

I've got kids and it's not so easy to get out these days...I do a few big nights a year...the next will be Easter Thursday:D ...It feels better to go out for a few hours and end up back at the house (sister-in-laws in Hackney) for a big sess and tunes we like. I think it's clear that there are lots of our generation still loving the whole dance music scene and all that goes with it...the trick is to enjoy it in the context of not being a young whipper snapper. In fact I love that I grew up on free parties in dodgy warehouses...I don't think anything could touch the experience of having been around at the start of the scene
 
Kids is the one thing that would make me stop/cut down on clubbing - fortunately kids is not on the agenda ever :lol:
