Too old for ibiza?

Que?

What the hell are you rambling on about now? Neo-cons?

Perhaps you've never been in a situation where you see people pointing you out and laughing. Even if they don't say it to your face, which is what I thought we were talking about (it's just a "joke", right?), you know they're saying something nasty amongst themselves.

Heaven forbid if people, even happy-go-lucky clubbers, should have feelings! Everyone, including Americans, love a good laugh. Entirely beside the point.

who mentioned pointing at people laughing.........i'm not talking for every single person you will be being nasty and pointing and laughing.

i'm talking about the real freaks, the ibiza people, the people who make it so special, the people who want to be looked at and get the smiles/laughs/pointing fingers.

if i saw a 50 year old in space, i wouldn't bat an eyelid, it wouldn't even register with me. it would however, if they were wearing a spidey outfit and dancing on tables at borabora, then they deserve pointing fingers and laughs.

why oh why do you always never get it?

That's a whole different issue! But that was never what we were talking about!

Check your PMs.. I explained where I'm coming from.

I just mean let the old people be! :D (because I'm fast becoming one of them )

I think as this thread demonstrates, it is such an individual thing and it depends on personal comfort levels (Stephen's description of the Hacienda is a case in point). I'm 27 and my partner is 33, and we are going to Ibiza this summer for 11 nights. We don't anticipate feeling too old or out of place in Pacha and Space. In fact, we noticed that at certain times in Space, it is more the norm to be in your 30s, and the few teenagers who were there looked unsophisticated and out of place. However, if my partner and I were to spend time in the West End, I think we would feel a bit old and uncomfortable, although I think I would get away with it owing to the fact that everyone seems to think I am 5 years younger than I really am. Nevertheless, the West End is what people tend to think of when they diss Ibiza and assume that it is for kids. Clubs like Amnesia, Space and Pacha are a million miles away from it.

Back home in Manchester it's a bit of a different story, and my partner can't be arsed with the clubbing most of the time now, whereas I still enjoy the main Manchester clubs, so I guess there is a bit of an age difference there.;)

.

absolutely spot on!

Interesting to hear all these views, particularly as an old timer!!

With age, comes wisdom, and knowing what we like!! Fact!!

I first visited Ibiza in 89, and have been at least once every year since!!

Often I feel old, but in Clubs I look around at the Crowd, and never feel the oldest there!!

And then there are the DJ's!! Alot of the so called big names, are alot older than me!! There still 'aving it!!

This is my argument too ..... the DJ`s are older than me ...... for example: Sven Väth is 4 years older than me

The list is endless, Knuckles to Tong, Kenny Dope is thye same age as me, and Morillo may be younger!!

I really dont think its something to worry about!!

don't need to tell you this boss;) but the bottom line is that many of the heavyweights/legends are so, partly, thanks to them being around since the scene kicked off in the 80s and into the early 90s.

so see sasha, digweed, carl cox, old timers like DT, pippi, alfredo, francois K (who Djed at studio 54 ffs), jeff mills, even your sneaks, roger S and the likes are all closer 40 than 30.

same goes for many promoters too, your dave beer charlie/chester variety8)

this is going to sound really cliche but its all a state of mind.

im 34 and still love going clubbing and still love going to Ibiza, and yeah a couple of places i'd never frequent again, not because i feel old its just cant stand the places.

unfortunatly life and its responisbilities get in the way of the quest for eternal clubbing youth...people mention DJ's getting old, yup they are and are still having it.

i think in some genres its a bit off having old people there i mean do you really want to see a 40 year old gurning to a hard dance dj.......ha ha didnt think so.

tastes change as you get older your no longer interested in getting smashed and leaping around a club like a tasmanian devil or slumping in corners with your eyes in the back of your head, you just want to go and dance to some decent music.
i mean i cant get on one for 5 days straight clubbing anymore and neither would i want to...in fear of sounding like an old git, i like to be able to have a bit of kip, something to eat recover and be coherant the following day.

saying that 35 people in total are coming to Ibiza with me in september now so i have a feeling all that its going to get kind of messy lol
