Incredible win for someone so young. She wasnt massively overawed either. What the games are all about.

did u not see the interview afterwards? she was so overcome she could hardly talk , like she was fully mashed up or something haha

Yeah - but I put it down to her been knackered after the race. She came across a little bit cheeky if anything - nothing wrong with that though.

OK - I need help - is there a daily digest of events to look out for?

Today is swamped with equestrian, fencing, rowing and God knows what else.

How do I zone in on the ones where Team GB are hotly tipped?

Ye Shiwen's world record Olympic swim 'disturbing', says top US coach

• Chinese 16-year-old swam faster than Ryan Lochte
• John Leonard says gold medal time was 'not believable'

Ye stunned world swimming on Saturday by winning gold in the 400m individual medley in a world-record time. It was her final 100m of freestyle, in which she recorded a split time of 58.68sec, that aroused Leonard's suspicion. Over the last 50m she was quicker than the American Ryan Lochte, who won the men's 400m individual medley in the second-fastest time in history .

Ok, a glaring factual error from me there! Thank you for clarifying! I'm blaming the commentary for that one!

But to call the ceremony boring...
I have talked to quite a few people here in my area of the USA. The younger set thinks the opening was long and boring, the older people 30 plus enjoyed it. The yoots (on purpose) need video game like graphics to be entertained.

The Chinese have a history of doping, It does seem strange that a woman has swam faster than a man in the last 50 meters with her being only 16 raises eyebrows even more. The Chinese always have world records than eat crow when they have doping charges. Where there is smoke there might be fire.

Watching Newsnight on BBC2 last night after it had all finished. Few very interesting points being made - not about doping, but the potential for tinkering with DNA and genetics to produce an athlete like this. Not talking about her being a test-tube baby or anything. But over the eyars being able to "assist" her genetically so she would turn into the athlete she now is. Fascinating stuff.

Is anyone else struggling with that stupid BBC player today?

I've got a great web connection and my machine is fine but it keeps bloody freezing.

Is there an alternative for the women's pairs at 11h50?

I think she's brilliant and love the way her success has pee'd off the establishment.

If she's been doping then she'll get caught, but it's really ungracious that they are hanging her out to dry without proof.

I was watching the women gymnasts at t time yesterday - phil came in an hour later and said to me "wow you seen these little kids?" I said - "they're 16 year olds babe" - now if that's not intefering with genetics and those girls and not given drugs to hold back natural growth or puberty then I dont know what is.....

This has never been deemed illegal or at least I havent heard of a gymnast being banned for abusing drugs.... why is this not frowned upon?

Only person in office watching it live.

Hard practicing serious faces opposite boss.

Puddle under desk.

YES.

Aren't our footie ladies out there killing it on the pitch too?

I hope all our winners are female in fact.
