The footy !!

Tottenham goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini breaks both his wrists and pelvis while riding his BMW motorbike.

He was in a collision with a Ford Fiesta driven by a Liverpool supporter.
:(
Very sad about this.
Carlo is a really nice guy. And he's had a rough time of it thanks to ole Harry according to my friends who keep in touch with him. Last thing he needed. Probably career-ending :?

Plus he was a great servant to Chelsea. In my book he was better than Cech and got a raw deal with Murinio. A great shotstopper.......

Yep very sad - although the positive if we can is that he is 36, had a reasonable career & made pots of cash to retire with, would be worse for a 19 yr old (and Dean Ashton must be in a very unhappy place at the mo).

Life changing' is how the injuries were decribed which was a bit weird but the undertone must be he aint going to play again.

I am amazed that he was on a bike, I thought sportsmans insurance stopped them doing anything like that, no skiing, motor sports etc.

I've seen a couple of mentions of that in press columns. It is a bit of a surprise, isn't it?

I remember hearing before that he rode bikes (a couple of girls in my London office are, for want of a better term, his groupies) but hadn't given a 2nd thought to it until now.

The downside of him being 36 is that a long layoff would bring him right up to around the age most in this business retire. Obviously, goalkeepers can go a couple years longer but with the time it'll take to come back that's not a given. Also, I don't think you heal as well at that age as at 19.

My sister-in-law broke both wrists at 19 and they still make a popping sound when she rotates them. :?

Better call on the West Staines Massiv to keep the peace!

HUGE day for the pool and barca..

Getting nervous all ready.

Sorry Morbs, praying for Dynamo to nick a draw in Russia in the early kick off!!

But this popping sound... is painfull or is it just a sonor effect? My leg and my arm is a kind of orchestra when I do certain moves but it's not painfull and I recovered almost 100% movility so it's all good

It's traumatology, this guy is lucky to only has broken wrists if he smashed against a car while driving a bike. And he is still more lucky to be injured now in 2009 and not in 1999 or 1989. He will get lots of pins and plates but sonner than expected he will be walking, while 10 years ago he would be covered in plasters for months and everyone crossing fingers that whenever they would take out the plasters the bones would heal propertly (does it make any sense? :?)

Oh and btw: GO BARÇA GO!

Sil, the latest word is that Carlo should heal up quite nicely. I think they've put in some pins and whatever and he's already out of the hospital. Some are saying he could be back training before the end of the season :!: I think my sister-in-law's wrist popping is just sound.

Barca looked good tonight. It's all down to the last week for that group, isn't it? But I think you'll at least get a draw in Kiev, which would be enough to go through.

And, of course, the big news tonight.... Forza Fiorentina!
