The footy !!

The problem I think was that his talent was not encouraged at Chelsea. (Not blaming Chelsea for his demise as such). Only certain clubs like a 'romantic' players as such and not sure he was ever going to be that at Chelsea. Say a team like Newcastle they like a player like that but then they are cack. Same as West Ham, they love a decent player over there and would rather lose 4-3 than be boring and win 1-0.

Chelsea well Mourinho wanted Joeto run and chase and work etc(fair enough they pay his wage) when that was never Joe's game. He did work his bollocks off at West Ham but was allowed to do what he wanted (probably one of the reasons we went down that year as everyone done what they wanted) and in return he was allowed his fancy flicks etc. There was no place for the fancy stuff under Jose. Well maybe when you are 4 nil up yes.

Could he also have been the victim of too much hype from the media? When he was 15 the whole country was raving about him. He was the savior of British football back then. He even used to have his own Showboat Special on Soccer AM. Him and Di Canio used to take the piss out of the rest of the players in training with their skills and tricks.

Also Liverpool have enough problems themselves which probably not helping him and his form. He needs time and also Joe needs to feel loved (don't we all). He was/is a fantastic talent and would I have back at West Ham? Oh yeah baby.

Another player similar, Matt Le Tissier. One of the greatest players I have ever seen. Would he have been as good if he moved to another club and not been allowed to play how he wanted? Who knows?

The managers after Mourinho all gave Joe a lot more freedom but he still never quite lived up to the hype, did he? That was 2.5 seasons before he left.

Don't get me wrong - I still think he's got talent and I do think Mourinho shackled him down in those earlier years. But I don't think that's an excuse.

there's been no English geniuses on the ball since gazza, and hoddle before him

and it's only time before the only English pros left are journeymen and hoofers in the lower tiers.

Well done the FA for turning the national sport into an international laughing stock

So very true as did you know that the average Premier League team today has some 13 foreign players in their side and that only 40% of the team are British. Compare this to when the EPL first started back in the 1992/93 season when a total of only 11 foreign players were playing in the EPL that season. Mind you we can't blame the foreigners for England's poor performances since 1966, in both the World Cup/European tournaments past & present because let's face it even with the likes of Gazza, Lineker and Pearce England haven't won anything:( And that's even before the foreigners started invading in our leagues.

culture will always play a part in the output of players but the UK is geared up for producing quantity and not the highest quality.

outside premier (and even top 6/7 premier league) the standard between all the league divisions and even top 3 or 4 non-league is tiny.

compare spain, where outside the top two leagues, the standard is poor, not much higher than county football in england.

it's no secret how spain have reached the point where it's a production line of players, they have invested in training, literally putting the infrastructure in place and then a case of putting the hours in.

spain has 23,500 UEFA pro, A and B coaches. England has 2769. fairly simple outcome from that.

worst part is that when i was 10, i remember i went to lilleshall and they blabbed out all the same stuff they do now about how more emphasis is being put on the technical aspect of the game. we're gonna copy how ajax do it, etc, etc, etc. total bollox, nothing is being done.

I know Lilleshall well as i used to live just up the road from their in Church Aston and thus the local team i played for back then often trained at Lilleshall Abbey. We also met and played against quite a few Pro Footballers and their respective teams who would occasionalyy use the Abbey in preparation for match's beit National or International. Then after training we'd see them in the Abby's the bar or sometimes one or two of the players would seek permission for leaving the grounds hence end up drinking in The Aston Country Pub Nr Newport.

NB: Ofcourse those were the good old days back in the 80' early 90's though i believe now the Center is no longer used for the English National team?

NB: BTW i correctly forecast the Super Whites would beat QPR 2-0 but didn't have a bet:oops: but a great afternoon of football was watched:)

Arsenal 3-1 Chelsea.

That was a long time coming and i enjoyed every second, arsenal actually had an end product for once. And was it just me or did chelsea look like an old side?

I said it before, Chelsea really dont have the strength in depth that they once did. I think them tightening the purse strings the last few seasons has reall weakend the squad and put them behind the likes of Citeh and even Spurs.

And I also said I fancy Arsenal to win it this season. The other 'top' 3 or 4 have just been so inconsistent. Manure will be the ones to stop, and Chelsea will also recover at some point, But I really do think it might be Arsenals year. With Cesc coming back at the right time, and Van Persie and Walcott hitting form at the right time, this will be a huge boost. I'd like them to win it seeing as my team are complete shi7e at the moment.

Well i would love to see them win it and although i'm biased i think it would make a welcome change to see them do so.But on the other hand i do think that the main reason that they have a chance to do so is that the other teams have slipped back and the league is weaker this season.

Just another question , usually there is an outstanding candidate for player of the season but this year i'm struggling to find one?

And another thing , even when times are bad and all seems lost, i just have to think that since rooney perfomed his u turn at utd they have paid him about 2m in wages and he hasn't scored in open play for nine months and i feel a whole lot better.

Being half way throught there arent a great deal to choose from. For me Carroll at Newcastle has to be up there. And Van der Vaart is doing well.

I honestly believe that Manure will sell Rooney, and sooner rather than later. The idiot embarasses himself and the club with the hooker allegations, and then holds the club to ransom. The twunt thinks hes bigger than manure :spank:
I think that Fergie got him signed on a mega deal knowing that he'll sell him for big $$$.
Aswell as the embarasments hes caused, he also hasnt perfomed well since last March. I think it'll be adios to Real Madrid for around 80 mill 8) You read it here first kids ;)
