The footy !!

It's still wide open. I wonder what odds for arsenal doing it :?

As for the rags, I see Owen is out for the rest of the season  http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/8551257.stm

Definately no Africa for him then

It's a funny one with Owen. I still hold a flame for him. Like the way he handles himself, minimal fuss, not so much ego (although go to Dubai & the lad is all over everything!).

So am actually a bit sad.

JJ - at my desk at JT at home knocking up the wives!

ok, he's bigboned then.

He's actually quite petit in real life  I think the tv puts 20 pounds on him instead of the normal 10

Lest you forget that he had more shots on goal than anyone in the last World Cup. He was the only one on your team trying to score.

Terry is still your best central defender. You just don't go to South Africa without him.

Dont get me wrong, Lamps will be a starter in most of the matches, and on his day is fantastic. But there are others, like SWP and Carrick who are slightly less known quantities for the opposition, and who can cause real damage, like the other night.

Yeah, I'll never forget the goals he got for us, he was our saviour on so many occassions.

But the flame went out when he went to Madrid for more money and didnt give Benitez a chance (costing us a fortune in potential transfer fees). I still wonder how he feels about Istanbul

Terry is an accident just waiting to happen in Africa. As a Chelsea supporter, I think hes playing his worst football for us ever.

I just hope he gets over his personal problems which are clearly affecting his football. Hes just not reading the game the way he used to and is leaking goals. A pervious John Terry combined with a swiss cheese goalkeeper Hilario, can only spell trouble for Chelsea.

With Regard to England...........yes you have to bring him, but any mistake made will see him confined to the bench for the rest of the tournament. Managers from other teams will Target him as a weak link for England, putting him under more pressure.

Ya, but the problem with both of them is inconsistency.

Lamps, on a bad day, is a good solid midfielder.

I've always liked SWP but he can be prone to losing the ball and on his bad days his crosses are poor. He's a good super-sub though so I'd definitely have him in the squad.

But what am I thinking? I want you all to come in 2nd in the group. Please... bench JT and Lamps!

I have no real bias for either lamaprd or gerrard but as i see it there isn't much to choose between them i think (correct me if i'm wrong) lampard has scored more goals and missed less games through injury over the last five years.I'd take him for arsenal anytime.
I really can't see how people call him fat either.

HEARD IT ALL NOW
the city allocation at sunderland has been reduced as city fans continue to 'stand-up' at away matches, blah blah health and safety thus reduce away allocation...whatever next

I went to the Paraguay and Sweden games in the last World Cup and Lampard was unvbelievably lazy in both games while Gerrard and the rest of the midfield chased everything for him.

He hovered around the middle third, never put pressure on the ball and let the oppo playmaker have 10 yards to spray passes to the front men.

Don't forget he was playing in the forward midfield role then, so it's unsuprising that he had so many shots on goal. The only time he moved his lazy ass was when England had the ball and he sniffed a chance.

He's always had Makelele / Essien / Mikel to do his donkey work, and Drogba to hold the ball up front so his role is limited but effective at club level. At country level he doesn't offer enough, and others around him either play out of position or have more to do in order to accomodate him.

As in the previous post, there are better players in EVERY position for England. Why he gets picked is beyind me, and when he was out through injury, England played better.

I know the Chelsea lot won't agree but watch him carefully in games, he's always 5 yards off where he could / should be, and at country level it's not good enough....

Iraqi footballer

Sir Alex Ferguson flies out to Baghdad to watch a young Iraqi play football, and is impressed and so arranges for him to come over to England.

Two weeks later United are 4 - 0 down to City with only 20 minutes left.

The manager gives the young Iraqi striker the nod, and on he goes.

The lad is a sensation as he scores 5 goals in 20 minutes and wins the game for United.8O

The fans are delighted, the players and coaches are delighted and the media love the new star.:D

When the young Iraqi comes off the pitch, he phones his Mum to tell her about his first day in Premiership football.

"Hello mum, guess what?" he says.

I played for 20 minutes today, we were 4 -0 down but i scored 5 goals and we won. Everybody loves me "The fans, the media they all love me".

"Wonderful", says his Mum, " Now let me tell you about my day:x
your father got shot in the street and robbed; your sister and i were ambushed; gang raped and beaten and your brother has joined a gang of looters; and all the while you were having such a great time".

The young lad is very upset.

"What can i say Mum, except i am very sorry?"

"Sorry?!!!Sorry?!!!Sorry?!!!" explodes his Mum.

"It's your bloody fault we moved to Manchester in the first place"!!!

What score does she rate...........nice ass

After losing to Lille in (from the quarter of the match I saw) entirely lackluster fashion, Rafa Benitez says he was "really pleased with the effort of the players. They were fantastic today."

So... my question to you all: Is he delusional? Or just blind?

I think he basically needs to stop supporting his players in public so much and say it how it is/was. You can only support them so much. They need to start taking some responsiblity.

But then hes probably scared the only decent few will walk if he slags em off
