Unfortunately what Footy European Competitions are missing right now is an English Club that can show the rest of Europe just how far they've come from the dark days of previous bad running by managment & excecutives etc. A Club that in the very near future will be new force domintating England & Europe:D. That Club is called:?? Bring it on chap's

Gerrard has had but a handful of "issues" in his whole career. A loser he isn't.

Difference is, our guys generally seem to get punished for their stupidity :lol:

Drogba - missed most of the Champions League group stage through suspension (and will miss some now again :lol:), never gets penalties even when they're clear cut, etc.
Terry - lost his English captaincy and some endorsements
Cole - lost his hot wife!

Stevie's gotten off scott free, is all I'm saying. And before you call Drogba a diver...
 
SG's been punished before. He was given a retrospective 3 match ban for a tackle on Gary Naysmith in the derby in 2002...

...but these were isolated football incidents. The actions of the Chelsea trio above point to more fundamental character issues.



And yes, Drobga is both a cheat and a diver.

Last punished in 2002? Like I said... riding his luck.

I could produce a few Gerrard diving moments too, but I've better things to do! (watching House at the moment :lol:)

I think the only reason he's yet to bring up our misfortune today is he feels as insecure about the 2nd leg vs Lille as (if I'm honest) I felt about our match before it started ;) But then again, it's only the Europa league in Liverpool's case...
 
Was flying back from Finland this evening so forgot about the Chequeski game.

Drogba a shining ambassador of the beautiful game by all accounts, and it sounds like Mourinho got a mixed reception from the oh so respectful Stamford Bridge Geezas. :roll:

Pretty sure there's a direct flight from Meeelan to John Lennon Airport in the Summertime...

As said, don't believe what was in the papers about the bar incident. It was pre-meditated by someone with an agenda.

Could it also be possible that SG's remarkable lack of "punishments" could be directly correlated to his lack of on-field misdemeanours?

Whereas the abundance of suspensions, fines and condemnation from fellow professionals towards the boys in blue bears a direct relationship to their on and off field "activities"?


Surely not.....that would be just too obvious, wouldn't it?

We'll win tomorow night, i'm sure of it. After the other night and with th crowd behind us we will go through ;) yes it is only the Europa league, but a european trophy is a trophy.

We can add it to the many others we have, including the 5 European cups ;)

it's a sad indictment of the modern game that people like stevie G and joe cole, both of whom grew up getting clattered from all angles, taking the tackle and carrying and never ever thought about gamesmanship or diving......have both become quite good at winning free-kicks in this way.

sad because they feel they need to do that to compete when the truth is that they are both talented enough to not need to.

with drogba, it's the theatrics, it makes a mockery of the game. every team has them. mascherano is a little sh!t for it. dani alves is horrendous.

just wish they'd get on with the game

Good points, Grego.

As for last night, Jose showed why he's one of the best in the business. It was an amazing game of chess and he got all the tactics right. Ancelotti, and Chelsea, were 2nd best. I don't think anyone was expecting Inter to take the game to us quite like they did.

Still wondering why the hell we didn't go for Schneijder when he was leaving Madrid. Always rated him. Perfect pass for the goal, one of many.
 
Have to agre with both sides here, drogba's goal scoring record is unquestionable ( i should know being an arsenal fan) but as a professional i think he's pretty despicable, although of late he has been a litle better, but i still think he got off lightly with the punishment regarding last seasons barcelona game.

Gerrard is a good quality player, but i don't understand why he needs to do these things from time to time, that was a blatent forearm smash on monday night, and in light of his recent elevation to england captain, probably wasn't the smartst thing to do, oh he does do a little bit of diving now and then, as do a reasonably high % of modern footballers.

A video listed at the side of this one is a shocking dive. Gilardino when AC milan played Celtic @ parkhead. I remember being at this game too... place went mental at him!
