The footy !!

What a way to reply to the gutter press.

Scoring the Winner against Burnley:lol::lol::lol:

one of the nastiest characters yet to 'grace' the English game. Plenty has yet to emerge in the press...

He's there to play Football..........thats what he does.

I feel his personality or private life is not our business.

Im sure the Press have plenty more to come but I think the man can take it. The driving header at Burnely shows that he'll let the football do the talking for him...........

That's basically how I feel about it.

Absolutely nothing to do with being a Chelsea fan either. I just don't see what the guy's private life has to do with his football. But then I'm firmly in the camp of just because someone is well-known doesn't give us the right to every detail of their private life.

Remove him as England captain? I'd just think you're a bunch of hysterical hypocrites. Remove him as Dad of the Year? That one I could understand...

And while he might get boos and stick from opposition fans in England, I doubt there'll be any Americans singing songs about him in Rustenberg (or Algerians or Slovenians in your other matches, for that matter).

Doesn't shagging your team mate's woman kind of make it at least a little bit about football though?

Plus, being England (and club) captain demands a level of conduct both on and off the pitch...

why the hell not? whats the piont of public humiliation if you dont follow up on it with songs slagging him off? Thats part of the sport...

Yes you may have a point there about a team mate. But were they together as a couple at the time???

David Beckham was England Captain while he was having it off with Rebeca Loos.

Also Sven Erikson was no saint and he was Manager of England.

It will affect the England Team as Bridge and Terry are both on the same team. One of them may have to be dropped.

That's just not how we watch sports

That's why going to a match in England is so much more entertaining.

Jamster - being a national team captain means you bark orders on the pitch, maybe give a pep talk in the changing room, and do a few charity appearances. Oh, and you get to accept the trophy if you win something, although for England that's probably a mute point  Only in England do they make such a big deal out of it. I bet you in most countries people couldn't even tell you who the team captain is!

Also, not to defend the practice, but it was his teammate's ex-girlfriend.

You think he's the only one?

Your earlier captains were probably just luckier... not the same voracious tabloid press as you've got nowadays.

sky sports news have just said that robbie keane has joined celtic as he is a celtic supporter...didn't he join liverpool as he was a lifetime liverpool fan??

In Ireland there are three traditional English clubs that kids support.

Manchester Utd (due to Irish player Liam Whelan dying in the Munich plane crash)

Liverpool (because of the strong Irish population living there)

and

Celtic (due to the Catholic ethos and old anti protestant feelings for Rangers)

Just to point out Celtic are a Scottish club. ;)
