Little review of my night at Eric Prydz @ Hi last Tuesday,
It was a great night, all in all, kicked off the day with an afternoon at Zoo Project Evolution, wasn't expecting much from Zoo but was completely blown away by it, The venue had such a relaxed vibe that was welcoming from the get go, The music was spot on for me personally as i was looking for a minimal up-beat vibe and it couldn't have been much better! We left Zoo Project around 11 o'clock and decided to go back to the apartment for a pre - Hi warmup,
We left Bora Bora to go to Hi around 1:45am and to our surprise we was told half way there that we should go back and change out of our swim shorts that most of us boys were wearing, we didn't want to take any chances so we went back and just got changed into some regular shorts, I wore a black t shirt, chino material shorts and some trainers and had no problem getting in,
The guys on the door were quite lenient with letting my friends in at 2:10am as they had tickets that allowed them to get in cheaper before 2am, once inside the vibe was quite clear that there was a divide between the norm's (us) and the VIP, however as it was an Eric Prydz night, there really wasn't many people in the VIP section, We entered the club room first and I was blown away by the sound system and vibe Andrea Olivia was laying down, by this point the narcotics I had been consuming over the day had got to me and I was rather dehydrated so of course I headed to the bar ready to be hit with a days wages round of drinks, luckily enough I was only getting a drink for me and my other half, 25 euros on a tiny bottle of water and can of diet coke later I was feeling mugged off, but was expected anyway,
We headed outside for a breather and a cigarette and wow, the garden was simply stunning to look at, felt like I had been teleported into an Avatar/ Pocahontas themed land where around every corner there was something interesting to look at (if you were feeling how I was at this point, you would understand), we spotted an empty Tipi and thought we'd get comfy inside as where else would be better to space out other than a Tipi tent,
After having enough fresh air and eager to see what else Hi had in store we headed inside, Passing the toilet rave we had to have a look inside and wow, the vibe was very old skool and somewhat reminded me of a not so distant Space that was once in its place, I originally thought before visiting Hi this would get too cramped and unbearable but I was very wrong, what a way to have a tinkle and a dabble than with some beats to go with it!
We then ventured into the Theatre and of course, Eric Prydz had a LOT in store for us, I was initially blown away by the music but upon giving it a few minutes for the production to really kick in I was astonished by how much the Theatre could change in atmosphere after every song, The lights and moving rigs reminded me a tad of Printworks in London as it is something i have not really seen been done before visiting there, All in all I was really impressed by the production and thought put into the layout of the lighting rigs, The fact that these literally hovered up and down above you I felt as though I was being abducted by aliens or some shit, of course that wouldn't have happened if I were sober but it definitely added to the experience and my first time seeing Eric Prydz, I wouldn't say that the VIP area's in the Theatre bothered me whatsoever but I could see how some people would not like the fact that they are over-hanging the crowd, personally it was not enough for it to ruin my time there and I would think that you would have to be very easily pissed off to let it get to you that much,
I cant say I prefer Hi to Space as I would say I definitely don't but I would not doubt that Hi has a lot of potential once they have tweaked a few things, I had a great night and was certainly one to remember, Hope this clears up any queries people have about the place and I would be happy to answer any questions people have!
