The building formerly known as Space --> HÏ Ibiza

To add I had more fun in the disco toilet than for Prydz set!!
I think that if I ever go to Hi, which is a big "if" as I haven't even found a reason to go to Ushuaia yet, I'm going to completely avoid using restrooms for 2 days prior,
just so I can get the full Hi experience...

But thats just because you prefer Tech House to more Progressive House sounds?

No doubt but I think it depends as well on what you prefer to dance too! I enjoy Progressive house and I genuinely was looking forward to seeing him. We went to see Prydz due to a mate loving him and even he was disappointed and preferred the tech room...

Maybe we had to bare with the hour long build up into his set and it would have been good

its like believin a 10years kid , yes this music is the best
_for sure if u were 5years old

I don't believe him. I told him straight away it will never be better than space but then im 35 and have different memories and opinions on what a party should be. The point of my post was to give the view of a younger person as there are not many 20 year olds who post on here (for obvious reasons). Point is we might all think its rubbish and joke about the toilets being the best part of it but the people behind Hi might just have nailed the target audience. They don't give a crap about a 30 something year old man who misses space they want the next generation to like what they have done and to quote my mate at work "It pisses all over space"

The uni-sex toilet is a dance room in itself and whilst it sounds like a joke - you ought to see the atmosphere in there it is like a small private underground event

You're nearly double his age. When I was 18 I'd not expect to relate to the same things as someone in their mid-30s!

So hi is only for 18 yr old's is it?

But you're right. When I was 18 I wouldn't have been seen dead in a .mainstream, commercial venue, catering for 40 and 50 yr olds giving in large in their VIP booths.

I'm not sure they are targeting 40 and 50 year olds though. I think they are angling for the fake rich younger crowd. The kind you see at ocean beach during the day happy to spend stupid amounts of money trying to live a champagne life on a beer wage

Mario Gotze looks too vigorous for a 50 years old:

No. But what an 18 yo finds cool is probably different to someone in their 30s.
I've said this before but the last few years (AT LEAST) of Space was pretty 'VIP'y so this is not a new thing...

Yeah,I pushed the boat out (or should that be yaht) at 50. What I was getting at is a lot of the vips are going to be older than the 18 - 25 bracket. I might be wrong? Either way, when I was 18 I wouldn't have been seen dead mixing it with the mainstream clones..

You're right here.. champagne lifestyle, diet coke money.

Ive been a Space regular since 2000.

Went to Hi Ibiza the other week for Prydz night.

Here are my observations:

Theatre (Discoteca)
Found they have narrowed the room too much allocating too much space to VIP around the edges. I quite liked the space around the edges of the Discoteca to take a breather from the dancefloor. When on the Dancefloor it did feel a bit more claustrophobic to me, especially the booths that are at shoulder/head height.

It does feel like the VIP are watching an event and the crowd below them.

Sound system was loud and good, but not a patch on the clarity with punch of the old Discoteca.

The light show was fantastic though, the projection screen behind the DJ, and ceiling screen installations really did give some depth to the room.

Club (Undercover terrace)
Here we heard Andrea Oliva play (he was doing an all night set).

Dropped some great tracks, and the music was pumping. Again, the sounds system was good but not a patch on the old Funktion One.

There was plenty of space to dance.

Again I feel too much space has been given to the VIP in this room. The orientation of the room didnt feel right, but then I dont know if thats just because im used to where the old DJ box was.

The Wild Corner (The Toilets)
Definitely the most fun room. OK, it could be a novelty, but the DJ was playing some good tracks, mainly classics, and actually the sound system sounded perfect in there.

The cleaners in there were mega efficient, working non stop to clean the toilet after anyone had been.

No stinky poos witnessed!

The Secret Garden
Was actually quite nice to have a large outer area to chill in. Had Tee Pees (sp) , dinosaurs made out of scrap metal and impressively lit trees.

Overall

we had a good night. I think its tough comparing to the legend that is Space... it simply isnt going to beat it.

However perhaps in time, with some tweaks and decent nights held there things could change for the better.
