The building formerly known as Space --> HÏ Ibiza

If VIP means an area where you have table to dance with your friends then no. I wholeheartedly agree that the vegas/west end style of champagne and sparklers is horrific. But that doesn't happen in ibiza to my knowledge, so in respect to that, no.

then enlighten me as to how you perceive vip in ibiza please. I'm curious really.

Tables with bottle service. I have never seen 10+ bottles of Armand di Brignac being paraded through the club, brought to tables with sparklers on them. I have not been to OBC, only been to Ushuaia twice so maybe it happens there. But my experience is its all pretty normal.

ha. one of the bottles that's sold most in pacha's vip for example is exactly one of the champers ones WITH sparklers. I don't have an opinion on that really (I just don't care whether there are sparklers or not), but I believe your perception of it being much different than vegas is sadly probably not very accurate and sadly it just WILL go down more that way when it comes to all the VIP stuff.

Interesting! I take your point. Guess I have been too busy having a good time? When Sven is turning down the music to wish someone a happy birthday, then I guess thats the nadir. I will continue to have a great time till that happens.

no one is having a go at you for having a good time and I personally have no battles with the whole vip sector really. only thing I said is that I don't agree with your perception of it ;)

That's exactly why i asked why are people digging out Hi when it's all over the island including space before it closed. Like I said last time I was in space I was told to move from where I was standing or I would be taken out the club. In 2015 I was in pacha I took a photo on my phone of my friend with his arm around his wife. I thought no more of it until security come over took my phone off me and said that I needed to delete the picture because the VIP table in the background that was a mixture of men and women told security they wanted the pic deleted. It was a pic of my friend and his wife for Christ sake. And actually they took it upon themselves to delete pics of us in dc 10 and on the beach just to be bully boys. So that's space and pacha I've had bad experiences but I will go back for solomun and if space was open I'd go back. Hi isn't even open yet and people have decided it's not what Ibiza is about. So are the above two examples acceptable because it was pacha and space?

I think your missing the point mate, those examples are not acceptable at all. The thing is the more VIP rubbish is imposed on clubbers the more you will see this type of behaviour.
People saying get over it, space is gone, give it a chance etc etc are also missing the point.
If Ushuaia bought Space and went down the road of trying to turn it into Fabric or Berghain ( were ironically no photos are allowed) instead of going the EDM Vegas route I'm sure more genuine clubbers would welcome it and the old Space would become just a happy memory.

Who remembers Space when you could go round the back of the DJ Box in the Discoteca before they turned it into a massive raised VIP area ?

Yeah. When it just had the 1 Indoor room, and the terrace. I only ever went inside when I needed the toilet. I stayed on the terrace.

No its not acceptable. But you had better get used to it,because that sort of behaviour will become commonplace. There are many on here who relish that day by the looks of it.

yeah I remember those days too.

Exactly... my point being VIP has been in all the big clubs for years. This isn't new, and isn't going away while people buy it. I actually gave up going to Pacha after 2006ish for Subliminal when it felt like there was more VIP than dance floor! Not been since

And that is my point. People are trying to take the moral high ground by picking a club that hasn't opened yet and so has no sentimental value to them. It's an easy target for pointing out the change that is happening to the island and easy to say it's not what the island is about. I gave two examples at space and pacha to point out it's been happening for a while and if people wanted to save what Ibiza is about then not going to Hi is too little too late. They should have tried making a difference a few years ago when it was happening in the very clubs they know and love. Ibiza today is very different from the Ibiza of 10 years ago and in as little as 5 years we will probably see even bigger change and not for the better in my opinion. Let's not forget the role our beloved dj's play in this though. They are charging crazy fees to play at these places. The clubs need to cover that overhead so of course it comes out of our pocket. Stivi posted a great interview with HS82 he come across great and spoke a lot of sense. But then he spoke about the VIP culture and preserving the island for the raver because the average cluber cant afford it anymore. i couldn't help but laugh at was he was saying given he has just signed up to a residency at the most expensive club on the island. Bet he never told them to lower entry fees or drinks prices for his ngt though

One of my best experiences on the island was going back there and watching Jeff Mills doing his magic at We Love (2006), It's just something I will never forget...

He wouldn't get the residency if he did that. It's his job to work in different places maybe places he wouldn't go socially it's his career which his separate from his social life he's just a lucky man that his career involves his passion which is music
