The building formerly known as Space --> HÏ Ibiza

I'm not sure how true it is but i heard the the old terrace will have a perspex roof thus enabling the lemm..er sorry clubbers the option to point and shout at incoming aircraft without being seen or heard. Just for authenticities sake.. ;)

Is the smoking terrace up stairs gonna stay?
quite good to chill out and rest the old legs I found.

Anyhow, so what date we all going to see garrix at Hi and hug it all out?

I am still amazed at how slow those planes fly over with out dropping out of the sky....It leaves me startled

I think you will find that the most obnoxious posters on this and every other thread have already been banned but can't help coming back and getting all shouty with everyone

(for the benefit of any lurkers, this was aimed at ME)

I dunno - I enjoy getting stuck into lively discussions and occasionally add something. the forum has its moments and i've learned a lot about the island from it. Ultimately nobody gets hurt and everyone gets to kill a few tedious hours at work. I don't agree with everything white isle calling said today but it was all fairly good natured and I respect his point of view. so just another day on the forum...

unfortunately, your relentless hostility towards someone you could just as easily mute comes across a bit weird.

They way I see it is: we're all connected through our shared appreciation of Ibiza. Maybe I'd go one further, and say we're all united through dancing.

Whilst what we want from Ibiza may vary from person to person - even if slightly, ultimately, we all want to sustain it's resources and to be able to continue enjoying it. (and if we can get everybody on board with acknowledging it's heritage and culture, bonus!)

@Amp and Deck said it right when he said he has issues with the organ grinder, not the monkeys. I share that sentiment.

If only, but a lot of people who visit Ibiza now are more into standing around looking ripped and tanned than losing themselves on a dancefloor. Hi is another step towards that, and a step further away from the thing that people fell in love with about the island. Acknowledging heritage and culture isn't the same thing as trampling all over it for a buck.

What is wrong with standing around looking ripped and tanned? Is that not allowed in a place where anything should go? - These comments just shout I am jealous to be honest.

If you was over weight and pasty standing around then that is fine?

Also 'a lot of people' is actually a small minority of people isn't it. You could say 5%.

if it happens on a dancefloor (a place which, as the name suggests, is made for dancing) and a lot of people just stand around, no matter if they're totally 'roided up, skinny or fat, then it gets annoying. it's always the amount of something that makes it poisonous.

Yep, I'm an overweight, pasty, jealous old man who pines for the days when Ibiza wasn't populated with younger, thinner, better looking guys (with a GSOH btw) on their 2 week holiday from the gym.

Very interesting debate for sure! Its not just a Ibiza thing though where people look back on the glory days and say it will never be the same etc for example...

You go to the football you hear old skool supporters saying the same with the old terracing days of the 70/80s how good the atmosphere was compared to todays modern football grounds.

Wether we like it or not the only way to hit them is in the pockets? I agree with WIC in that respect as i'm one of the crowd of dont like it, dont go etc.

The club life and life in general - (people take pictures of food ffs) also has alot to do with popularity and social media, the attitude of look where I am without having a clue why said person is there.

With Ibiza it is tough because we all love it I understand that but what can we do? We will moan and stomp our feet but I bet a penny to a pound we will all return to the island for one reason or another.

When I was at bpm festival early this year there was a group of Americans at martina beach who were huge. They were just standing around with there jugs eyeing every women up. They got no attention whatsoever, yet the lads who did was the ones who were dancing with smiles on their face without a care in the world actually enjoying the moment, and they were half the size.

This with the "roiders" is what annoys me, they are in the same catergory as people who stand there just film, take selfies every 5 minutes and video everything. Not there to dance, just there to take up room.

Also may I add its the same for the women aswell "Too cool to move attitude" that annoys me.

I was at Pacha for Solomun 2 years ago and struggled to find room to dance because I was crowded out by people who were very much not there to dance. Including one couple who stood still the entire time, boy behind girl, arms around her, both filiming the DJ booth on their phones. Horrendous. Pete Tong was the +1 which in retrospect may have meant a less 'engaged' crowd.

What sort of dancing are we talking about here? Ballroom dancing, line dancing? Maybe Zumba!?

Now you're just being ridiculous. If you genuinely can't see the point people are making - that clubs are to dance, and than people who stand around completley kill that vibe - then there's really no point in having these discussions.

I am being sarcastic with regards to dancing style because some people chose to dance by swaying a little and nodding their head where as someone next to them likes to move their whole body.....The majority of people are dancing some way or another and enjoying the music lets think about it

Just because they are not dancing as 'exuberant' as me or you may be doing so doesn't mean they are not dancing
