The building formerly known as Space --> HÏ Ibiza

Surprised to hear the views on Sankeys a few posts back. I've always had a great time and loved my nights there. Maybe always having been around closing dates it's different? Or maybe that's the thing about Ibiza, what someone likes, isn't anothers cup of tea, but there's always something for everyone. Enjoy it, whatever you do.

i don't much rate them now for club music.

Don't get it at all.

Dc10 opening a couple of years ago going from a guys like Martinez bros, squillace etc at peak time dc10, to TOU.

They slow everything down and imo become boring, maybe good musically for people, but not for a good party... maybe at their own night with Dixon and Ame etc, but not for me.

Not as good as it used to be.
Who recognises bcm as one of the best clubs in the world lol. Surely not.

In general I don't mind the British crowd, yes there are plemty knobs but sometimes Spanish Italian crowds can be quite arrogant too. I hate the groups that: don't let you past when your trying to walk through, :barge past you without saying excuse me, :make eye contact with you but don't acknowledge you with a simple smile or hello etc.
Some people actually look miserable in ibiza haha
I agree with everything here however making eye contact and not showing any emotion is very likely to be substance related they just looked straight through you!! I know from experience o_O:rolleyes:

I think the problem is people think they need to go to certain clubs / nights because of social media etc. I first went to DC10 in 2005 as a friend was a worker and said we had to check out Circo Loco. Was a proper bonkers experience and I'd never seen anything like it before. I still love CircoLoco at DC10 but last year summed it up stood near a group of British people stood there looking miserable constantly on their phones, filming and not even dancing.

If you are not having fun, why be there? You're on holiday!!!

I've heard a few people saying DC10 isn't what it used to be with the techno brigade taking over with their black tshirts, long white socks, sunnies, there just to be seen, fist-pumping on the dancefloor etc. Don't know if there's any truth in that whatsoever, but that sort of crowd is a turn off for me. It's a really weird trend of macho British lads lads lads suddenly embracing techno and thinking they're very cool because they went to DC10 etc. It's massively try hard, and a lot of these groups have a bit of an aggressive edge as well which is not what I'm about when I'm trying to dance and have a good time.
Don't go to DC10 on a Wednesday! The most nauseous crowd in Ibiza imo. Mondays is an entirely different matter with very few brits about and certainly none from Essex in my experience. Same black tshirts though!

Thats one of the things that p*sses me off the most about this whole thing. That (nearly) every chiringuito is going down the route stivi outlines. Day beds, VIP , minimum spend, waitresses all in black or white , "champagne sponsor vueve cliquot" b*llocks. I just want a simple day at the beach with some reasonably priced nice food (preferably local) and no pretentiousness, but its becoming harder to find.
Welcome to the North...

I just think we all need to accept that Ibiza is not the Balearic haven we all fondly remember it to be. Commercial interests have flooded the island and the Government year on year take something away which made Ibiza what is was.

I think the Hï "Club with us" moto sums it up. We are in 2017 not 1997. The island is commercially driven and will only continue onwards in this direction. All of the parties on the island seemingly start with a business plan rather than the favoured age old lets share some music with like minded people.

IMO if you want to find the Ibiza of yesteryear you need to start looking elsewhere.

(or visit out of season).

Yeah,I think we all understand that. You are spot on here, what drives me mad though is the so called party goers,we'll call them party goers, because the ain't ravers. Discussing brands, marketing and waiting to see what a venue is going to offer them and their faux vip dream. When it's you,the people who create the party, and put the venue on the map. You don't even need big name djs, that's how all the best places have started, organically. The party's that have gained legendary status have just provided a space, while its the unknown djs at the time, and the people who created them, and put it on the map.

Playing devil's advocate here, but are we somewhat naive here if we think that promoters of years gone by just did it for the love, and wanted no commercial gain?

I was getting at the fact it is a 'proper' club

But actually if you google it DJ mag put it at number 10 above DC10

BCM has a 7000-capacity and a whopping all-inclusive 15 bars — so you definitely won’t leave thirsty. Upstairs is the serious main party-hearty dancefloor with a 65,000W Funktion One soundsystem, pukka lasers and a big ice cannon

I think you could class that as a 'proper' club

I guess if DJ Mag says so, then it must be true. I mean they had things spot on with Martin Garrix as the number one DJ for 2016 didn't they o_O

Playing devil's advocate here,

You're not playing devil's advocate,it's what you believe... whatever makes it easier for the blind consumer I suppose.

It was with out a shadow of doubt more about the scene and the music than just a business. But everyone needs to put food on the table.

How much money do you think Carl Cox was getting to play at illegal raves in 1990,or blocko and Alex p were getting on the terrace at space. The list can go on and on,they done it for the love of it.
