Tell us how it was - Ibiza 2019

Elrow @ Amnesia
Holy shit! what the f*** is all this about ?‍♂️? such a good laugh! Loads of energy in the room. Bloke in a gorilla suit trying to get me in a headlock I think? I still haven't got my head around the total randomness and mayhem of it. Apparently Fatboy Slim was on? Never saw him, there was a speccy school boy looking bloke on but he was playing some good music. Played that 'Turbo Time' by Patrick Topping, I was throwing some shapes out like karate kid or something. Only downside is it got way too busy. We got in there really early and even got a free shot of something (tasted like aviation fuel) but by 0330 the boss had seen enough. We went back to San An as it was their national saints day and everywhere was open till 0500 and was a good atmosphere.

Great DJ :)

Dates you were there:

Sept 6th till Sept 12th
Weather looked dodgy the whole time on the forecast but was actually pretty decent until the last night. I'm actually posting this on my last morning as is a bit grey and it's fresh in my mind....

Where you stayed:

7 Pines. Beautiful hotel, amazing rooms and pool. Very chilled vibe and amazing views... But just too far from anywhere I wanted to go. Been coming to Ibiza for 18 years and this was my first time staying East. Won't do it again. Shame, I forgot how much cabs are.....

Visited Es Cavallet a couple of times for some beach time which is always pretty chill.

Club nights visited:

Shadows at Cova Santa. Excellent night, all the better as it really gets going early. Magdalena closed the outside then Andhim kicked off inside. They were fantastic, I was pleased to hear the new ELAX tune getting a spin. The sound system inside was impressive and a brilliant friendly crowd. Top marks.

DJ Harvey at Pikes
Fun warm up before we headed to Amnesia. My friend, an Ibiza resident, blagged us in as hadn't emailed ahead. Said I was a Russian ballet dancer. I attempted a move and kudos to the girl on the door she let us in. Really great fun as ever, packed on the dancefloor by 1.30.... But I was itching for some techno....

Pyramid at Amnesia
It amazes me there is not more love and support for Pyramid on this forum. The lineups are consistently interesting and different, Amnesia is great and the crowd there seem to really love the music. There's so much moaning about Ushuaia and complaining about generic tech house - this is a serious alternative.
The plan was to explore both rooms but I ended up sticking in one spot for Raresh/Villalobos all night. So great. Some Ricardo faves peppered through plus the usual weirdness. Lasted till 6.30.

Best night:

Andhim at Shadows and Pyramid both bang on. I still find it pretty easy to find good times on the island music wise even though there is a lot that for me personally is a bit meh'.

Worst night:

The night after Pyramid. A VERY early one....

Best bar:

Paradise Lost in Ibiza Town. An absolute gem.

Best place to eat:

I have 3 strong recommendations....
IL BUCO in Santa Gertrudis is a fave with locals that specialises in various types of Focaccia all with different toppings. They do delicious salads too and have a great wine selection.

CAN MIMOSA also in Santa Gertrudis has a gorgeous outdoor setting and outstanding food. Opened recently and been widely acclaimed. One for a bit of a special meal. A lot of the meat and fish is bbq'd outside on the grill.

LOCALS ONLY is a newish place in Ibiza Town. Great setting on the Plaza del Parque and amazing food. The seared calamari with crunchy green beans was especially fantastic.

Money spent:

Come on.....

Biggest regret:

Staying so far East....

Going back?:
Uh huh

Top tip:
Half at a time on those Soundclouds....

Also, read this forum, it's been great for advice and general gossip and raising of excitement. Thanks everyone.

Dates you were there:

4-11th of September.

Where you stayed:

Tropical hotel, San Antonio.

Club nights visited:

Captured Part 1 (Friday) -

Spent my night in the seal pit watching Solarstone and Sneijder. Was a good vibe as the sun was going down over the ibizian countryside in the distance. Progressive night really. We retired about 1 ready for a long one the next day.

Captured Part 2 (Saturday) -

After Shine. This was the one I was most looking forward to. Arrived about 6 and went for a warm up stomp in the Hard Trance area in the living room. Missus wasn't feeling it so went to the seal pit. Was made up when the announced special guest was Signum. One of my favourite DJ's and was the perfect soundtrack for sunset and the night ahead. He was followed by Binary Finary. Was looking forward to this as never seen them before but hadn't really ever seen them on a line up anywhere before. It didn't disappoint! This was one of the best sets I've been luckily enough to witness. Prog classics and surprisingly went hard towards the end. Word obviously got about by this point cause could barely move by the end of the set. Afterwards went out and caught abit of Will Atkinson on the main stage then went into the club. Lost all bearings of who was playing by this point and we decided to knock it on the head around 3ish in a drunken state. Absolutely loved this night.

Laserface @ Amnesia -

This wasn't included in our Trance week package. Got the ticket at the welcome meeting out of curiosity of it selling itself as the best laser show on the planet. We did Driftwood boat party with The Thrillseekers and Ferry Corsten before this and went drinking afterwards so I was fairly excited. Not really a Gareth Emery fan, find him way too cheesy and practically EDM. This set did little to change my mind. The laser show however was spectacular. Even if you don't like the music my advise is to give it a try. It's beyond description. Knocked the night on the head though when he dropped an Ed Sheeran Remix ? Sam Mitcham and Nick the kid were great just before though.

Also went to pure bottom of the west end for a trance week closing party. This was one of my favourites. Hard trance pumping. Packed tight little club with a good atmosphere and a great crowd.

Best night:

Captured Part 2

Worst night:

Laserface but still worth a look.

Best bar:

Bar Swami, Ibiza Town. Cocktails down the cobbled streets under the vines.

Best place to eat:

Bella Napoli, Ibiza Town. Watching the world go by outside over a four cheese gnocchi. Amazing!

Money spent:

£1150 - Spends
£1200 (Approx) Flights & Accomodation

Biggest regret:

Getting too "excited" down the west end on my second night for pre drinks. Being home by 1 and not making Shine at Eden which I had a ticket for. Woke up at 3am to an angry girlfriend on one side of the bed, furious I'd left her whilst drunk. And vomit the other side. I'm rarely sick. Darn triple vodkas  On the upside it taught me a lesson for the rest of the holiday and I remembered to stick to lager ?

Going back?:

Next September for 10 nights

Top tip:

Last couple of week long party holidays I've started to realise I'm no longer 21 and have been in atrocious shape towards the end of the holiday(s) and for a week afterwards. Eat proper foods instead of burger kings once a day for 7 days. I didn't flag anywhere near as much and, bar a little wobble on the afternoon of day 5, I felt fine most days.

Also. After 9 years I think it's time for me to put the west end to bed. €5 a pint most places now. The whole point of going there, to save money, is over. It's nearly the same price a pint as the Golden Buddha and there you look out to the sunset and beach instead of lookie lookie men and the noodle haircut brigade.

Great review mate. We also love Napoli Bella (cheap for this kind of quality). Thanks for the "trance week-end" review, not a fan of trance, but I like to know bout everythin' on the party scene of the island. Beer and wine is the only way to start early and finish late...

Dates you were there: 8th-12th sept

Where you stayed: azuline mar atmantis

Club nights visited: Glitterbox, Harvey at pikes, trance take over blue Room es paradis, tronic Eden, resistance

Best night:
I honestly had time of my life couldn't pick one as much as I love hard banging techno I enjoyed the chilled night at pikes talking to random people for a few hours.

Day 1 Gliterbox: was musically good even thought I am not biggest disco fan I got with the vibe and enjoyed it. I do like Hi but it will never be Space of course. Would I go back yes probably but for some strange reason I couldn't find the entrance to room 2 (old terrace) anyone confirm they don't open it?

Day 2 pikes/trance takeover: we went to pikes early as as warm up nice 32e bottle of wine and chilled for a bit. DJ Harvey for me is far to down tempo bit didn't let get to me I still had a dance. We then shifted to the west end for the trance takeover events as a friend was djing who has some tracks signed to PvDs label and I used to watch him DJ as a young 17 year old trance head back in the day at goodgreef events. We entered pure watched his set really enjoyed it had a few drinks in the upstairs club then headed to the blue Room for trance after party. Had the time if my life here classics non stop and the fact is was just some random DJ made it better, for me this is what Ibiza is all about!

Day 3 resistance: we went to privi Tuesday a few men down totally feeling and also my self being 26 I felt more like 66! Watched EE in vista was impressive light show club perfectly busy. Watched nastais set in main room which was banging and caught some of hawtin before calling it a night at about 5.30/6.

Day 4 tronic Eden: day 4 we got up pretty sharp 10am start smashed our all inclusive all day and met new friends who we had a great laugh with. We came to the conclusion dc10 was off the cards tonight after various reports on here and people on the island of the extortion bouncers would operate. Ok you shouldn't sniff on a dance floor but didn't want to feel on edge it would ruin our night. We ended up on the west end having a drink and showed our new friends our old haunts from younger years. Was scary how closed down the place was and the amount of people out to rob you! We had it and headed down to Eden for tronic which was 10e in and pretty empty. I only went to tick Eden off the list of clubs I hadn't done. I found it good right size and sound system was banging.

Worst night: didn't have one but would have to say last night as I over did it and still currently feel constantly sick.

Best bar: the hotel one it was free! Tbh we used to highly rate the highlander but couldn't get away with it this year seems to of lost its aura if that makes sense. I blame the early closing of West end for this. We checked out itica which although is still good isn't what it was before linekar took over I don't like the new set up.

Best place to eat:
We didn't eat out as were all inc.

Money spent: holiday cost £550 spends £700

Biggest regret: over doing it and having the worst travel experience if my life. I had to keep me head down to stop feel sick which was basically like vertigo. Had this once before was terrible. Was sick 6 times in Ibiza airport and my Mrs has to stop the car 3 times on the drive home for me to be sick. She isn't very happy as you can imagine...

Going back?: Yes roped into a stag du next year which will be trip 9 of my Ibiza career and I hope it's my retirement du!

Top tip: meet new friends try new clubs lose your self but don't over do it will come back to haunt you.

Also take some travel sickness tablets that's my next investment!

7 Pines .... Been coming to Ibiza for 18 years and this was my first time staying East.

Staying so far East....

.... actually it's in the West  ... but yeah you need a car if you stay that side and want to get around the island a lot because you'll run up hundreds of euros on taxis otherwise.

Liked Il Buco too, went a couple of times this year and the steak was very nice both times. ?

We went on a boat trip instead, around Es Vedra with Captain Nemo. Was really good actually. Especially enjoyed getting to jump into the sea. We stood right up the front and I'm not going to lie, I was pretending it was my own private yacht ? full speed ahead skipper! Plough through all the peasants on their pedalos.

on the Captain Nemo... :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
Dying:lol: ...

Get your ICC licence and rent a decent motorboat. Sod jetskis, there's nothing quite like getting behind the wheel, powering up the coast and chilling out on it wherever takes your fancy with a coolbox full of food and drink and your own sunbathing deck. It's a very guilty pleasure ?

Ibiza Town
Stuck a shirt and some chino shorts on and our lass spent about 4 hours doing her hair or something and trying on loads of dresses and asking my opinion ?‍♂️ jumped on the bus had a few drinks down Ibiza town. Some great little boozers tucked away around the streets.

What is it with women and clothes shopping on holiday ?:lol:

Good shout mate, saw a few people out on boats doing similar. It’s something I’m going to look in to, thanks.

You can piddle around as far as about Cala Bassa one side or Cala Salada the other side of San An in a small motorboat without a licence. They only cost about 150 a day unless I am completely out of touch with price escalations. If you want something bigger and more powerful (essential if there's chop) then a decent sports boat or RIB will take you right up as far as Benirras, Cala Xaracca etc. via the rock islands, es Portixol (if you know how to find it) and other amazing places - or round the coast to Es Vedra, Atlantis, Porroig etc. Even across to Formentera (though I don't like that crossing much, far easier on a ferry most days).

To rent those you just need to take RYA Powerboat 2 course and you will get an ICC (International Certificate of Compliance) for free which covers you up to 10m length boat. It lasts 5 years and you can renew without retaking a test. For a bigger boat you'll want the skills you learn on that course anyway - especially if you have to refuel it and deliver back to a mooring in a tight space ! A smaller one e.g. in June (officially 7-9 or so people but best with 2-3) can usually be had for about 400-450 cash plus 75-150 fuel depending on how far you go but you'll be quoted much more than that most places as everyone's an agent with their hand in the till . Add about 20% if you want to pay by card because they can't dodge VAT. Also about 800-1000 or so deposit blocked on a credit card like with car hire.

Thanks buddy, awesome info ??

Landed 3 pm, didnt leave the airport till 5 pm. They lost my luggage. Spanish airport workers dont seem to give a f***, neither would I to be honest. My cell phone isnt working in spain despite my service provider telling me it would all be cool once I landed. I couldnt get a hold of my Air BNB host, and was locked outside my condo till about 8 pm. I took a walk around Ibiza town with a bottle of johnny black in my back pack and spent a bunch of money on some nice italian boots and clothes lol. Oh and I got mugged for 40 euro at the airport lol. No big deal, I shouldnt have left my helmet laying there unattended with some pocket change in it cause I was too lazy to put it in my bag.

Welcome to ibiza!

I havent slept for two days, Im seeing shit right now as I type this. Im tempted to just go out but my adulting skillz are kicking in and saying call the day a write off, get some sleep, you got ten more days.

I'll write a proper review once I get back to the north pole. Staring at the ocean with a glass of Rioja right now about to pass out on my balcony.

Oh god what a start !!! On the bright side things can only get better from here !! Did you complete a PIR for your lost luggage before leaving the airport ?

Occasionally my adult power kicks in. I find this is easily silenced by Jagerbombs, Low quality spirits and a complete disregard for your health

The service provider not working is a classic
Aug 19,it didnt work with french living in Chile, even he bought the option, especially for ibz,,i told him ,plan B ,Ibz airport Free Wifi (dont remember if it filter whatsapp mess,Fb mess worked for sure)
