Staying at Ushuaia 2017

I don't like being a sheep but the problem is I knew nothing about 'Destino'.

belongs to pacha group. a bit smaller than ushuaïa and because they have neighbours very close by (meaning villas around, not other hotels) they can only do one weekly event in summer normally. it's got fantastic views over talamanca bay and over to ibiza town and dalt vila. I personally prefer destino over ushuaïa, not least because you can also go and have an afternoon around the pool as non-hotel-guest. just call and reserve your sunbed (it's got a min spend, but it's not outrageous).

I think it was you that asked in another thread about one single favourite party. it's almost impossible for me to just pin it down to one, but one of my favourite parties ever were the cocoon closing afters in 2013...which happened at destino. still get goosebumps thinking about it now.

Destino is a far nicer venue than Ushuaia, the views are amazing, plus you get Tox club down some stairs once the outdoors shut if you want to stay out all night!

I'd much rather stay at Destino than Ushuaia but again that is big bucks too, the events although not as frequent are much better also, with Luciano, Solomons etc..

Destino as said has nice views and so on, but I found it even more ridiculously expensive than normal ibiza club prices (tiny bottle water ~150ml €9). Also if you stay there it's a taxi to other places unless you really really like walking.

Got chatting to a couple of lasses staying there and it was close to £6k they spent for pair of them for a week. If have the money to burn I guess go for it!

It seems a bit of a contradiction that people are slating Ushuaia for their VIP culture or 'up market' feel when Destino seems just as pricey if not more?

Is it a case of....Destino was there since 1990 so it is the best and nothing is allowed to change?

destino actually opened after ushuaïa so no, it's not about that. yes destino is expensive too as are a lot of places on the island. and as already mentioned earlier in this thread, pretty much all clubs here have a vip area (even places like sankeys and benimussa park). I'm also no fan of destino's VIP area, I merely said I prefer the venue as such. next time you're in ibiza go have a look so you can compare yourself too.

I for one can't properly speak my mind here, but guess that at some point you'll figure it out yourself as to why ushuaïa isn't getting a lot of love from some of the long time ibiza goers on this forum.

I would say destino felt more vip like and you had to dress more appropriately, unlike other places which wearing a bin bag would not stop you getting in:D

We where seeing Solomon at destino so perhaps a different atmosphere say to ants etc, but I liked it but little disappointed you couldn't get to the railings to see the view as it was roped off for vip (as well as the toilets and other areas at the back)

That been said I enjoyed it, but I also enjoy ushuaia, Benimussa park etc. But I'm also kinda easy going and "whatever" when it comes to venues and the people, unless they're been a complete dildo baggins :p

Stayed at destino also enjoyed Solomon for a day rave . The place is far superior to Ushuaia, it also welcomes most people during the day to use the sun loungers ( for a minimum spend obv) unlike Ushuaia staffs who treat and look at you Like your scum ( my experience) and so I've heard even if your staying there. The place is just miles better, for me I had a great experience there. Although I've had a couple of good sessions at Ushuaia opening and ants opening, I found myself more on edge at Ushuaia. Plus the music policy is mostly shite.
As long as they have no grief like last year with their cancelled events I would def plan my trip around destino and maybe a Solomon +1 live .

We attended the Solomun live in August last year at destino, I have to say we both really enjoyed it and it was our favourite outting of the trip. It really is a lovely setting. As said before, it was frustrating as a lot of it was unacessable due to being VIP areas.

The disco mix is years old ,still sounds good. NU disco I think the kids called it.. and the Rufus wainwright track on the 6mix is definitely in my top ten..:) how good is that supermayer mix of Rufus Wainwright..

See I appreciate everyone has an opinion and I guess I only have had two evenings at Ushuaia so maybe not enough but I remember that the venue as a whole was superb

I really don't like getting mugged off as I found when I went to warehouse in Manchester. That for example is all about making money....Pricey entry tickets and ran over capacity and very little money goes into the venue e.g staging, sound system

Ushuaia didn't give me that feeling that it was all about making as much money as possible

Though I didn't enjoy Guetta but loved Ants. You can see a lot goes into making it a great night and they are not just using their brand or reputation like WHP to bring in the customers

I will get around to trying Destino and yes it could end up being a preferred choice but I cannot see myself going to Destino and then turning around and saying Ushuaia is $hit or slating people for liking the venue??

I'll just throw it out there.

Stay at neither; save your money. You can visit Destino and use there pool in the day even if you are not a guest. And if you didn't enjoy Guetta then I'm assuming the EDM thing isn't your scene which leaves only Saturdays suitable for yourself at Ushuaia. So just visit the venue on that day; pointless staying?

When Im paying 14euros for a 250ml bottle of Heineken I DEFINITELY got that feeling :)

And you drink it anyway?
We pay over the odds for food at a restaurant and drink but you are buying into it being nice to eat and a good evening out
That is what Ushuaia provides
What I am getting at is if you went to WHP and was paying £50 for a ticket (Which you had to enter before 2130) and once in you had a to queue at a painter and decorators table to buy a drink....Queue for 20mins to use a Portaloo and be crammed in on the dance floor listen to music out of two speakers from Toys r us you would be hacked off

When you have a superb evening at Ushuaia you are not bothered about the 14euros for the drink because the host is ensuring you have a great time

It is a good venue no doubt, and I have been to some good events there, in their first few years of opening they seemed to have a much better program catering for different music genres, went to Luciano and Sasha night and that was brilliant! The drink prices do not bother me, it is what it is, you either choose to drink at those prices, or just get drunk before hand, or just do pills! :) That is the same in all Ibiza clubs

I would say it is worth a visit for sure, but once you have been there a few times you know there are much better places in Ibiza, the main thing for me is it just doesn't feel genuine, and about as far removed from the hedonistic care free attitude that Ibiza was famous for

Ushuaia is a great venue with the best production on the island IMO; however the musical programming and queues for drinks / Toilets let it down.

Their whole VIP vibe doesn't bother me; no worse than Pacha or the Amnesia balcony during Music On. Ibiza is very VIP orientated nowadays regardless of the venue.
