Staying at Ushuaia 2017

And you drink it anyway?
We pay over the odds for food at a restaurant and drink but you are buying into it being nice to eat and a good evening out
That is what Ushuaia provides
What I am getting at is if you went to WHP and was paying £50 for a ticket (Which you had to enter before 2130) and once in you had a to queue at a painter and decorators table to buy a drink....Queue for 20mins to use a Portaloo and be crammed in on the dance floor listen to music out of two speakers from Toys r us you would be hacked off

When you have a superb evening at Ushuaia you are not bothered about the 14euros for the drink because the host is ensuring you have a great time
I get what your saying mate. But any club that charges that much for a beer gives me the feeling they are about making as much money as possible. Ushuaia especially so!
That doesn't mean you cannot still have a great time there. I/We have all done it many times at many expensive clubs in the past.

For sure - it is an expensive passion/desire/hobby or what ever.....Though sometimes I think clubs could charge more and we would still pay for the ticket and I think to myself I hope they don't....or maybe they know that?

I paid £100 for a day pass at Creamfields!!

Remember though Ibiza is seasonal isn't it so has to really increase their margins to cover the 5 months they are dead. Also not forgetting the fact people really fuel them self on disco biscuits so alcohol consumption is very low compared to your usual joint. I bet they are also having to pay a ridiculous amount of tax also and I get that impression because the clubs were getting raided. Amnesia was done for how much??

Maybe a few reasons there they bump up their pricing

And everyone is on holidays, out of their mind on ecstasy pipes and chaz, there's boobies and fanny floating around of course your going to pay whatever they ask for a drink. You dont want disco froth/cotton mouth on your face while pouting and busting moves you practice all years for this night at ushuaia..

See I appreciate everyone has an opinion and I guess I only have had two evenings at Ushuaia so maybe not enough but I remember that the venue as a whole was superb

It's not really about the venue itself,it's what it represents.

The 'host' has an even greater time taking your €14+ for a beverage.

The thing is Rye you'll never understand the grievances of the people who have been going to the island for 20 plus years. I know there have been other influences on the island,i mean just the island and it's native's alone are magical. But old hippies and ravers added a lot to the culture of the island. Now we have faux vip culture in these places and plastic, soulless venues accommodating it. There has always been wealthy people and celebrities holidaying there, but they didn't give it large.

Off topic: personally I think what San an is doing to drive away the young kids on a budget is going to kill ibiza more in long run. It's those kids when get older will migrate to quieter/better hotels and spend more.

Plus also the kind of vibe ibiza has from the melting pot of old and young will diminish. The 18-20s are on whole I found decent if you get in a convo with them.

On topic: I'd personally stay HRH or some other high end hotel if you want to have a special time, use their facilities etc (you'll appreciate been able to sleep too at them lol) and spend the saving on nights out. Hey even try the vip at ushuaia or destino (I wouldn't cause I'm from Yorkshire and tight :D ).

We tend to drink before hand at hotel or bars and just water in clubs so to hydrate and be fresh the next day . One thing I do like about ushuaia is that they charge €8-9 for 0.5 litre bottle of water... other clubs it's half that volume.

@MrHullMysterious - what GEM (ushuaïa) did in PdB (and how the whole of playa d'en bossa then changed) was the model for san an...they're simply following with a few years delay.

well the familys got pushed out of pdb.Now looks like san an is next.ibiza prices are getting higher..my hotel used to be 750 a week a/i.. flight £210..now after rooms refit 1860 euros....first time since 82 i am not going this year.know for sure staff will miss my tips and gifts...i ve seen pdb go from begin packed with familys.now up market kids are there not so busy really at night in bars.even some of the shops that used to good are selling club tickets.but kids pay the money what ever the price.work all year so why not....once you get a bit older you want value for money....wish i could go back the the late 80s.open place you paid to get in was ku and pacha...i like the changes but not the prices...lol

Yeah I know it's a shame. It seems about chasing more profit now to detriment of many other things. Change is always going to happen, things that don't change tend to decay. What that change is on the other hand is a different question.

Vip and top end hotels in themselves are not a problem, but if they are the only option or for the "poor plebs" what is left is undermined or a diminished experience is.

What to do eh?

And if you didn't enjoy Guetta then I'm assuming the EDM thing isn't your scene...

Hey now -- don't equate everything vaguely mainstream as being the same as David Guetta. I'll pass on his sets, but I've still had a solid night out seeing the likes of Arty, Fedde la Grande, Nero, Armin van Buuren, etc. at Ushuaia.
