SPACE opening party

I had a great night too !!!!!!! :lol: :lol: :lol:

Space opening was so funny ( I don`t have seen fannies :p ), dancing a lot and have so much fun !

I will be there next year ! :twisted:
 
had mates that went this year and they have been to opening for the past 6 years...they all agreed that the fact it was too busy definitely ruined it a lot, so that does sound like the main theme of the day.

Changing tack slightly i'm still gutted that they had to get rid of the old terrace with the refurb last year. I know everybody has a view on this but even though it got a bit ropey and the new one has an amazing sound system...i did prefer space in the old days. oh well, each to his own eh.

I thought 2ManyDjs rocked it at We Love opening last year. As far as I could tell, everyone in the room did.

I'm quite pleased I was treated to the same set Sonar patrons got. I don't have all the CDs so it was great to hear a whole bunch of different stuff in a club environment.

Were you at both gigs?

are you suggested therefore that once a Dj has played a particular set, they shouldn't use some, most or all of that set again even if they play just days apart.:?

when i've been lucky enough to see a resident play every week or regularly, the highlight of the set has always been their use of their recent sets or tracklisting.

in fact, i'm not sure i know one DJ, who if they played days apart, wouldn't use a lot of the same material again (especially if the reaction was good, which for 2MDJS @ Sonar, i've no doubt it was)

Yes I was.

There is a time for party music but I think there's just too much reliance on popular anthems at WLS. I know a lot of people like this but I prefer hearing sets that are a little bit more eye-opening and diverse.

I do think that if a dj is being paid megabucks then yes, they could at least try to change their set a bit. There were loads of people at the WLS opening last year who'd come straight from Sonar (most still had their wrist-bands on!) so it wasn't just a couple of us. Very lazy I think and with a bit of a contempt for punters, but then the likes of Felix have been trotting out the same sets for years: Blur Song 2, Vitalic La Rock, Nirvana...

Whilst I like these tunes, a bit of originality wouldn't go amiss, especially with the money they're charging.

So, getting back to my original point, whilst I love Space I do think WLS could take more risks and often appears to be full of people who aren't arsed about the music and just want to pose/get wasted. The arrogance in that place is shocking and whilst you get posers at every night, it always seems so much worse at WLS, possibly due to how busy it is.
 
Clara I totally agree with you on the music! But what is your definition of a poser? I have never experienced arrogance at Space. Everyone has always appeared friendly towards me. Do you think maybe you might be giving out the wrong signals towards people and therefore them acting arrogant??

I only say this because I have noticed if I am not having such a good night, people don't really chat with me, yet if I am happy and enjoying myself I always seem to make loads of new friend's.

Maybe it is all to do with body language?

Personally, I don't care what people where in clubs but what I do care is when people elbow you out of the way at the bar or in the bathrooms. I'm afraid the Spanish seem to be the worst offenders for this. However at the likes of Carl Cox, the Manumission Carry On and the La Troya carry on, everyone was very friendly and there to have a good time and enjoy the music and the surroundings.
 
Clara I agree with the Spanish girls, although only ever experienced that at DC10. I love the way they elbow you when dancing :evil: Not all just the nasty little ones!
 
I'd elbow back but theres a high proportion of guys at Space with muscles bigger than my head.

As for 2 many dj's I've only seen once, last year on the new terrace, and I had a great time. But I've tonnes of sets and to be fair, the novelty wears off after a couple of hours. Can imagine if you trooped round seeing them a lot it would get a little mundane. I thought Optimo would be the same no Clara? You're quite a fan of Optimo Espacio if memory serves me correctly?

In case you were wondering, I've mislaid that CD I said I'd give you. If and when I find it I promise to send it on (brothers just left for San Fran and his wife and kid were staying with us for a few months so we are just getting the house back in order again).

Resident nights don't work! If you spend every weekend 2 days in the same disco (i was working, I 'm not that crazy) with the same dj's you know what they will play and when ... taht is why I stop going out in Belgium. Everyone plays the same!

i'm not talking about resident only nights, i'm talking about weekly/fortnightly residencies á la Oakie @ Cream, Tenaglia/Sasha @ Space, Coxy @ space, etc, etc
 
I know everbody has there own opinon but I personally can't stand to hear a 2hour+ set of tracks I don't recognise. I personally think the atmosphere at a club is 100 times better when you have a DJ playing big tunes that people know and love.
In my opinion WLS does'nt have enough DJs that play these kinda tunes, look and Tiefschwarz, Paul Woolford etc, I can't really see them banging out all the 'cheesy' big tunes.

man, theres enough of these holes in the west end of san antonio!

nobody would go there, if all they do was play Tune after Tune.
 
IMO Space has something for everyone- big summer tunes that are well known , new stuff cutting edge that a lot of pepole havent heard.

And theres several arenas to choose from too!

If they could only lower the bleeding drinks prices........

Erick Morillo & Roger Sanchez @ Pacha rarely play to an empty Pacha.;)

Trouble imo with WLS is after 12 when the Sunset Terrace shuts, with the line ups they have this year, with a few exceptions, you are pretty much stuck with electro, techno or progressive which I know alot of people like, its just that if i'm going once a year for a week or two I like to hear tunes I know. Like I said this is just my opinon and do respect that people think different to me.:lol:

There's not much point giving you a wristband if they aren't going to let you get back in. Although I suppose if you don't leave in the first place you won't have a problem! I always intend on leaving for a break, then decide to give it just another hour because I am loving it so much, and before I know it it's closing time!

Yeah, I don't think about the money I am spending when I am in Ibiza. It annoys me how some people continually moan about the prices - if they are that bad then don't go. The best week of my year is always my week in Ibiza, so I think the cost is worth it.
 
thats just saaaaad about Space opening :(

some friends of mine were there, for the first time in ibiza! and they had a bad time.. :(
