Where's the best spot then? It'll just be me and the Mrs, so should be able to find a little space somewhere...
it depends on how close to the action you want to be.
on the actual dancefloor, as you walk down the stairs coming in through the main entrance, head to front right, just to the bottom of the tables section. not far right, but towards the right, about 10 meters from the dj booth used on sundays (and tuesdays). if you stick close to that low wall you're normally fine. you don't have a proper view on the DJ, but at least in my books this is totally unimportant anyway. it will get busy for sure, but by staying there you're sort of protected on one side by the walll and also have less traffic from people coming through. there's a point where the wall makes a curve and that's where you're normally OK.
if that's still too busy for your liking or you want to see the DJ and don't want to be down in the madness, head up to the gallery far above the dancefloor. that spot will also be busy, but in the back of it (say not standing at the railing looking down) there's normally enough space.
there are more places like this and it often also depends on the night. if it starts getting busy just try and move a little. in my experience, sometimes it's actually not the amount of people that bother you, but the ones just dancing to you instead. wild moves or someone bumping into you continuously can be bothersome and if you then move a little that problem is solved.
peak season clubbing needs some consideration, but if you keep your cool and are aware it's going to be busy you'll be fine. and the music and the atmosphere is normally really great at s+1.
