last time i was there (3 weeks ago) the tunnel btw san and eivissa was not complete, but i ve been told that it is now complete.
i was against the motorway but honestly it is very good! i live in san jose and i go to ibiza town everyday, it used to take me tWenty minutes to get there, now it is about 15 minutes! ok its only 5 minutes but its cool!

does that not put all this motorway business into glorious perspective? we get to save 10 minutes travelling time that was caused by building the motorway in the first place! then we lose it all because nobody here has any idea about how a slip road works and traffic comes to a grinding halt because nobody wants to let anybody onto the motorway from the slip road............i could go on and on but i can feel my blood pressure rising already

Building bigger better roads was never the answer. public transport is the way forward. I'd kill to spend 5 minutes in a traffic jam on the way to work in Ibiza. Whats wrong with these people. Bureaucrats on the make spoiling a lovely countryside.

no. they built half of it before the elections (in two weeks) and they will do the rest next winter..... as you should know, it will have more than 1 km :!: :!:

Has this project affected the entrance to The Underground?

getting to U is easy now. coming from ibz-town, just leave the motorway just before you enter the tunnel (see the exit on the pic above?). then you turn left at the roundabout above the tunnel...voilà!

Foundation Stone of New Bus Station Laid.
Pleased to be laying the foundation stone for the new bus station in Sant Antoni last week despite opposition from some affected land owners & hoteliers in the area (specially the very pissed off owner of piscis park who will lose some of his land and who is writing letters to the newspapers every week complaining about it-Mc), the Mayor of Sant Antoni, Jose Sala, apparently said it was a much needed improvement for the town. Designed to keep the public service buses from having to enter & pass through the centre of the town
the very-weird-looking new bus station, which was expected to be ready last summer, will be inaugurated in a few weeks..... so if you are, for example, at cafe del mar you will have to walk a bit more as the bus stop near villa mercedes will disappear :!:

a little bird tells me it will have space for, at least, 7 taxis and that the reason why it havent been inaugurated yet, although the building is finished, is because the bar (rented by a company from mallorca) is not ready yet.....
the grand opening party is tomorrow ! !

some day there will be a promenade around ibiza :?:

New Promenade

The outgoing mayor of Ibiza Town, Xico Tarres, has announced his party's intention to build a promenade from ses Figueretas to Playa den Bossa.

This will be coupled with a project to regenerate the beaches in the area. The project will mean that Ibiza Town has a continuous beach for 1.5km.

More importantly the project will mean the postponement of the proposed port for es Viver, that was set to destroy ses Figueretas beach.

The promenade will be 8 metres wide, and will include improved access to the beach for wheelchair users.

The project is being made at the moment,
and it is hoped it will be finished by September.  :?:

The cost of the work will be around 4 million euros.

McRackin, how's the promenade coming along? any new pictures?

I know it's barely the start of the season but has the work caused any major disruption yet?

Cheers
