Restaurant reviews

It's simply good food at a reasonable price with the added bonus of being located right next to the market/party. It's nothing out of this world, but it doesn't need to be imo. I never have any complaints

We are thinking of doing this on a Friday night - is it best to book or will they always find room for walk ins?

i've not personally had a problem walking in and getting a table, but I'm sure they would appreciate a booking if you're a group larger than 4

here's another recommendation for foodies. in fact, if you like gastronomic experiences and don't mind the spend, this one should absolutely get on your ibiza restaurants bucketlist.

yesterday night, we had dinner at etxeko ibiza, martin berasategui's michelin-starred restaurant in bless hotel above cala nova. we had the 'el viaje de martin' tasting menu which is a multi course tasting menu (I think in total it were 18 plates/creations we got). what should I say? it's 100% amongst the best dinner experiences I've had in my entire life. prepare for a long evening of eating things you've never had before (the way they do it) and drinking fantastic wine (or beer, whatever floats your boat really) in a lovely setting with an absolutely impeccable service (and this is what often fails here on the island let's be honest).

etxeko is definitely in the es tragón / gaia ibiza category. for us it was actually the first such expensive meal ever since the pandemic, but since a friend of us who's just on the island knows the head chef personally and my wife's and mine 10 year anniversary is coming up, we thought let's get a nice group together and so we went.

fantastic from a to z, period.

needless to say you need to book well in advance. not sure how much they cater for vegans and/or vegetarians within that menu, but we had one celiac at the table and another person who's allergic to various things and they effortlessly managed to cater for them.

We dined at Etxeko on this recommendation, having been to the Es tragon and La Gaia.

The food was excellent, matched with impeccable service ( I feel Ibiza has gone backwards this year with its customer service overall ).

Out of all 3 I feel La Gaia pips them all, the ambiance and overall experience is amazing.

Throughly recommend both of them if you have the money to spend and love a tasting menu.

Thanks - hoping to try this tail end of August.

Already done Es Tragon and Gaia.

Busy enough to need booking or nah?

Taz,

I booked but we like to eat early. Its a large restaurant, probably 6 other covers while dining, 12 by the time we left with many tables available.

As I said I felt La Gaia pipped it but I look forward to your opinion

We are big time foodies

Yeah we love Gaia - one of our top restaurants worldwide... although it would be good if the menu changed a bit more.

Es Tragon also good.

Review of Etxeko in early Sep - thank you :)

Hi, has anyone on here been to Rooftop Ses Taules in Ibiza Town? It seems to change name & hands regularly and had previously been called Angelo's restaurant, located above Angelo’s bar (by Bar Monalisa), beside the walls of Dalt Vila.

As my husband proposed there many years ago, we were thinking of going for our anniversary, if it's any good.

ROOFTOP PARADISO
Enjoy the best cocktails and music accompanied by breathtaking views of the sunset over the iconic DaltVila. Then, continue the night at Lolas and keep the fun going in our incredible atmosphere. Don't miss the opportunity to experience an unforgettable night at the ROOFTOP RAPADISO!

Used to go for drinks years ago and might go again now in September when over. Let us know 😊🥂

Hi

Can anyone recommend any restaurants in Ibiza Town for a family of 4 / 2 adults and 2 toddlers?
Also recommendations for a beach club that will be family friendly in PDB/Salinas/Es Cavallert , other than Tanit in PDB

Many Thanks :)

This year, was only there for 4 and a half days, but went to these places:

Shamarkanda:
Bit of a drive from where I was staying (but recommend doing this and it's worth it!), but lovely setting and great food and ambience. I had three starters instead of a main, and that had me stuffed. Had a dessert as well, so that's probably why! Food was so good!

Etxeko:
As others have mentioned, right up there with La Gaia and Es Tragon. I find them all to be very different, but all amazing with perfect service. I didn't do a wine pairing as I was driving, but this is definitely one for the foodies to try. The presentation and explanations that came with each dish were superb. As well, absolutely delicious!

Ses Boques:
I parked the car in the parking lot near the Mirador restaurant and walked down, but then saw it would have been fine to park closer to to the restaurant. It was actually good to have a short walk before and after the meal. Fish here was so nice and a really nice atmosphere

Tapas Ibiza:
You would never think you're right off a main road in San Antonio. Was about a 5 min walk from where I'm staying. Thought it was a great setting in the garden. The service was incredibly helpful. There was the option to do half sizes, but what I had was delicious and a LOT for me (had the sesame tuna and octopus)

Mamajuana:
I remembered reading about this on here. This was so good! Will definitely be back. I had the ceviche, croquettes, and octopus/potato dish which was so, so good. Highly recommended!

Kitchen 62
This meal was the first thing I ate after my only night out, so maybe this is what made it only good instead of great? I had the truffle dry aged burger, but didn't have a huge appetite, so maybe this was it. Would still recommend it!

I didn't have a bad meal and all were very different, so can't really compare!

on sunday night we had decided we wanted to go for a nice meal last night.

it being the middle of august, and the eve of a bank holiday (today is a bank holiday in the whole of spain), it was no easy feat to think of a place that could have space and also tick the boxes we wanted. we craved meat, but didn't wanna do can pilot again (since it's open all year I get to do it almost whenever I want) and we knew it was pointless to try and call camí de balafia on such short hand notice.

in the end we got a table at grill san carlos (now actually callled san carlos bar restaurante), the barbeque place just outside san carlos heading north. I had only been once in winter, I personally wasn't blown away by it then, but I was willing to give it another chance, and miriam had never been before.

as a starter, we ordered a vitello tonnato to share (one of our guilty pleasures...and it was delicious) and then the meat parrillada (mixed grill) for two, which came with four different types of meat and on a hot stone. not sizzling hot, so not for you to actually cook it, but rather just so it stays hot. it was a big helping of meat and everything was perfectly cooked (juicy, not dry at all). when I went last time I only got to experience the indoor bit (as it was in winter), but if you go in summer, you're out on the covered terrace and I have to say it was super nice out there. the service was on point, the food was genuinely really good last night and the atmosphere was very nice.

one starter, plenty of meat for both of us (I eat a lot and we barely could finish the mixed grill for two), a few beers and a few cups of wine...93€ in total. very fair by ibiza standards.

resuming: it's not balafia (which is still the top meat place for me here on the island), but it's also not balafia in terms of prices. after last night's experience, I would genuinely recommend it as a valid option if you're looking for a place to dine in the san carlos area. I remember people having asked over in the akasha thread. IMO absolutely an option to have dinner here and then walk down to akasha for a boogie afterwards (it's about a 10-15mins walk which is perfect).

as I said, last winter I wasn't overly convinced by the place, but sometimes you do have to give places another chance and last night everything was pretty much perfect I have to say!

Good to read, as I also had a mixed experience a few years ago.
We'll give them another chance.

A boring question: Is it a safe walk down to Akasha in the dark in September around 9PM? i.e. is there any pavement? Consider I am a London guy and struggle with rural roads with no lighting

it's safe yeah, there's pavement on pretty much the entire bit between the restaurant and akasha (the only bit where there isn't is betwen the restaurant and the corner of bar anita, but we're talking 200m or so...just put on your flashlight on your mobile).

Thanks! Slightly OT, but every year when I go to Ibiza how dark it is in rural areas always freaks me out - its like proper dark at night. So much light pollution in London (or any big city) it never really gets dark with all the building / street lights.

I got a bit lost trying to find my way back to a finca near S Gertrudis late at night a few years back. Reliant on a phone torch on a remote track, absolutely eaten alive, which unnerved me more than occasional cars tbh
