RESISTANCE IBIZA [Sasha & Digweed] @ Privilege 2017

This came up on my FB feed this morning, last 20mins Sasha & Diggers set at The Social Festival last year. Although I didn't attend I did watch this along with a heap of other 'fan boy' made vids and for me this set is closer to that melodic, atmospheric, emotional journey that the 40ish age group know. Of course their sound has moved on as individuals and as a duo but for me and along with a few other dj's these two are still amongst the best out there.

Just throwing my bit into this....went to Priv last Tuesday, was very impressed. Great night....loved being back in that venue again after all these years, Manumission being the last, many moons ago. It has a real feel of Ibiza for me, from the view of Ibiza town from Vista club, to the isolated location and swarms of cabs up the road....I loved it. Production and sound systems in both rooms were amazing...anyone going tomorrow, you will love it.

Couple of practical things to note, first off, I got 15e tickets the day before but had to be in by midnight (tickets were 40e otherwise). So went in at 11.30, was virtually empty until at least 1am. It filled up after 1.30, with constant flow of people coming into the venue for the next couple of hours. So if you don't mind paying the full whack (or are lucky enough to have guestlist), definitely go in after 1.30.

Another thing as a warning, we sat outside in the garden waiting for it to fill up and my girlfriend got eaten alive with mozzies. Like really really badly. Her ankles swelled up so much you couldn't even see the individual bites the next day! So wear jeans (like me) or put decent repellent on.

Other than that, highly recommended....roll on next year, hopefully they build on this and come back for a full season. I said that if they were running till October, I would have considered another cheeky 1-night trip...it was that good.

i planned my trip just to make this show last week - had a great time - funny thing was being with several people who noted this was their 1st time ever to the venue - obviously due to their recent programming.

S&D were a bit harder than I would have expected but I def had a great time... lighting was great and nice to be back in the venue that I primarily associate with Manumission

Final party in Ibiza after doing Cream,Captured/Sunk, Bob Sinclair and Flower power... going for a mixed experience this year.

Can't wait for tonight after reading all the reviews..

Only been Privi once as never made the days when it was the place.. old enough but didn't have the dosh then..

My boy has sorted us Lista for anytime entry for free so should be giving us options as to when we feel like going in.

I am so encouraged by 2 things this trip seeing Es Paradis ranmed with trance lovers at Sunk.... made me so so happy and get the feeling that I am gonna see tonight the same in Privi...With the tech punters..

Was really really hopping Coxy was gonna make it but looks very unlikely now... but in 6 years of coming ibiza the music this time has been amazing The trance has been mind blowing...

Hopefully the techno stuff which is my other love will blow me away tonight..

We went to the Closing Party last night and it was significantly busier than our visit for Sasha and Digweed in August. We came straight from Zoo and had €30 pre midnight entry tickets so got in around 11.20 and Vista room was actually reasonably busy. Went into the main room from just after midnight and it actually filled up quite quickly this time. By 2.30 it was getting quite tricky to move around / find space to dance so I would say this must have been a pretty big success for them. Musically, we possibly preferred Zoo but it really was a superb night and the production really came to life with a fuller venue. Not quite sure what the point of Eats Everythinng having his own set with the silly b2b2b2 at the end would have preferred Nicole Moudaber on her own but didn't catch mutch of the main room later but it sounded pretty full on Techno. We ended up in the Vista room at around 3.15 for Hosh and Edu Imbernon and that too was packed out with everyone having a great time. Left just around 5am after one last look through the main room and it was still very busy. I wonder if next year they might look to extend this party later in September when the crowd seems to be suited to it?

This really is an interesting one. I know September has always been more older and tech heavy crowd, but it seems more than ever you could see some parties actually doing Sep/Oct and not EDM months of July and August. I know I for one would do cheeky weekend after cheeky weekend if the season went up to end of October. Maybe I'm wrong, but it feels like it is becoming two distinct seasons.

after 6 times in ibiza through out all periods.

this summer was my first to be there in september.

september is by far the best month to be on the island from my point of view.

you just got to get used to the cold beaches.

Cold? Hardly. The weekend just gone was typical September. Rain on Saturday, the most beautifully windy 22/23c partly cloudy day on Sunday and then 29c and Sunny on Monday. Personally I love the variation more.

For clubbing I think you are right. I'm not a September person personally - too busy at home, shorter days, cooler nights and knowing you're flying home to usually cold / cloudy / rainy long-sleeve-and-hoodie weather with a Winter on its way instead of (maybe) some more weeks of Summer always makes it a bitter-sweet time of year. Coming home is 10 times more depressing in September and almost too much for me nowadays !

I don't fly abroad for wind, clouds and / or rain. We get that 360 days of the year in UK and it's more than enough already !!

We are going OT here - but I do get you. When you do weekends in May and June, you go back to UK and the days are even longer, and you have the whole of summer ahead of you. September and October will result in WORSE Ibiza blues when you arrive back to rain and dark!

so yeah by all accounts resistance closing last night was the busiest out of all of them and I´m keeping hearing very good comments about last night.

so resuming I think it´s safe to say that all in all, their debut season went OK. the opening night was good, then they had a dip in mid-august when prydz did his last two dates at hi, but the last 3 dates have all been busier again and especially the two september dates have done really well.

Amazing. Hopefully all of September next year maybe? Without talking 2018 (banned until after closings), I really hope they are back next year. I loved this night.

Closing party absolutely brilliant sound system in that main room packed but still plenty of space upstairs, in the seated area between main room and the vista. Vista had plenty space to move around and dance..

Visuals and general appearance of thos party is top notch.

It was our last party of a very busy week so only stayed 3 hour but I can tell you this party is serious contender.

Now space is shut this is my favourite venue at least last night with that music and production..

really interesting to see how the season went for them. probably the promoter with the most unsteady evolution/results over the summer.

they had a good start (the opening was well busy) and I think week two was good too, but then august was really tough for them - if you go back in this thread here and read comments about how the dates went from start of august until 22nd august (prydz closing) you could think it must have been a horror season for them - and honestly mid august really wasn´t good for them. but then, once prydz was done and the crowds changed from very young august folk to the more mature september ravers, resistance rose like phoenix from the ashes. the last 3 dates went really well for them and especially the two september dates only got great feedback. so if you´ve been to resistance this summer, seriously, the experience varied vastly if you went right at the start of the residency, if you hit the august wall or if you were lucky enough to catch the last few dates which by all accounts were the best ones.

without wanting to start ibiza gossip 2018 (I stick to what I said - not before last closing is done), it will be interesting to watch what happens next year with them AND the other tuesday nighters. should be an entertaining few months for us here on the board ;)
