RESISTANCE IBIZA [Sasha & Digweed] @ Privilege 2017

really interesting to see how the season went for them. probably the promoter with the most unsteady evolution/results over the summer.

they had a good start (the opening was well busy) and I think week two was good too, but then august was really tough for them - if you go back in this thread here and read comments about how the dates went from start of august until 22nd august (prydz closing) you could think it must have been a horror season for them - and honestly mid august really wasn´t good for them. but then, once prydz was done and the crowds changed from very young august folk to the more mature september ravers, resistance rose like phoenix from the ashes. the last 3 dates went really well for them and especially the two september dates only got great feedback. so if you´ve been to resistance this summer, seriously, the experience varied vastly if you went right at the start of the residency, if you hit the august wall or if you were lucky enough to catch the last few dates which by all accounts were the best ones.

without wanting to start ibiza gossip 2018 (I stick to what I said - not before last closing is done), it will be interesting to watch what happens next year with them AND the other tuesday nighters. should be an entertaining few months for us here on the board ;)

Good summary. It felt like they could have learnt a lot about Ibiza, the late line ups and some of the weeks line ups were a bit odd. Hopefully they learnt a lot and can grow on this for next season. Possibly with stronger line ups.

I guess the difficulty is when they take Resistance around the world at festivals etc, they don't have the problem with exclusivity like they do in Ibiza

exactly - and very much the same situation HYTE have been facing ever since its birth.

I've said it in previous posts but Privilege really did blow me away when I went week 6. The night flew by and the club was outstanding. My only gripe was the dome wasn't open. When in the que we were looking up at it and the afterlife man was hanging down and spinning from one of the bars. It looked amazing. Once inside I kept checking on it but security was stood at the bottom of the stairs all night. Shame as the club was very busy. Was the dome open for any of the nights??

I love that the statue of Ku is still there's tho

It was open for Pure Carl Cox but it was chaos! Getting up there took 10 minutes and the que, or should I say crush, to get back down took at least 20-30 minutes! No music was played up there either just a smoking area

@stivi if mosaic, resistance and prydz all wanted to return next year, whats the general protocol for existing nights to avoid clashing in future after they have on Tuesdays this year? Very mindful of the politics but equally mindful relationships are often more cordial than they are made out to be. Is there direct dialogue, do they take a chance and all stay on Tuesday without communicating with each other or just pick an an alternative without communicating with each other? I'm also mindful of the potential impact on other nights hosted by the clubs in question. I know I'd have liked to go to all three this year and I'm not alone in that.

add together and do not sleep to those three as well...even though they might not have exactly the same target groupt, they still play a major role in all of this.

your question isn´t one I could give a straight answer to, because past experience tells me that sometimes it´s done this way, sometimes that way. meaning that sometimes promoters do talk to each other to try and find a solution which is an improvement for everyone and sometimes they just keep on doing the same until one eventually drops out. mind though that sometimes it´s then also the venue that has an important word on the whole and simply might decide they want or don´t want to continue taking the risk going up against various other nights of the same/similar sort.

Cheers. At least two of those nights are in house promotions, aren't they? I'd imagine all four are co-promoted to a significant extent, using the club pr team on the street and advertising as a minimum. Anyway, thanks. I did wonder how they may avoid this again. Mosaic, prydz and resistance will draw significantly on each other's market despite all having a different music soundscape. Darius has said dns isn't returninG, but then Darius says a lot of things.

He's already back-tracked on that one. And in any case, Darius isn't the one calling the shots at DNS as he'd have everybody believe
Has he? Haha! Darius makes me laugh. His heart is in the right place though, amongst all the bluster. Yeah, his agent is the man behind DNS and cuckoo land (which he was frantically trying to distance himself from last month).

Closing party absolutely brilliant sound system in that main room packed but still plenty of space upstairs, in the seated area between main room and the vista. Vista had plenty space to move around and dance..

Visuals and general appearance of thos party is top notch.

It was our last party of a very busy week so only stayed 3 hour but I can tell you this party is serious contender.

Now space is shut this is my favourite venue at least last night with that music and production..

Ha, do you remember speaking to a guy and two girls at the very front of the queue? The chap from Glasgow was me and I've just realised it was you!

As was said before, it was a great night but horrendous queue caused by having only 1 window open for cash paying punters and I reckon I arrived around 12:30ish.

Great to see the old place open up and relatively full again.

Despite the obvious one offs by Carl, I doubt anyone will be able to fill the entire place again but they way they divide the place up is clever and the sound was as good as I heard anywhere.

Easy to get a cab as well at around 6:30am, was expecting to have to walk a bit and bung the cab marshal a couple of Euro but no queue at all.

.... yea I am pretty certain that was me now you mention it. The couple infront of us at the guestlist line..

I never understand the various lines to then pay at the same place to the. Line back up again to give your ticket over.. madness.

Glad you had a good night. It was our last night clubbing in Ibiza. Getting to old for going out every night now.
