Radio 1 weekend

They could save a few quid by not building that pathetic scaffolding stage perched on the shore and think of some new options. It looks like the most awkward space to hold an event these days.

Agree, it's been overdone now. Also makes little sense when Privilege, Es Paradis & to a lesser extent Eden are sat there empty some nights, surely they'd love the bar takings and UK media attention the Radio1 weekend brings?

I was in front of the stage area. Way too hot here, promptly went La Cubierta bodega on the edge of the strip to drink and chill. Didn't have a problem with anyone's set. Annie Mac and Mark Ronson b2b now

Really liked the disco stuff from Purple Disco Machine and Mark Ronson, don’t know what is happening to me!

That Benji b set wrecked my head. Going from garage to koze. His track selection reminded me of one of my house parties where everyone throws their request in

Didn't hear it, but ironically Benji B is one of the few DJs on radio 1 who (at a push) I'd listen to these days. He seems to know his stuff and doesn't haven't an irritating presenting style. Not sure what he has to do with Ibiza though!

Maybe BBC Radio 2 should step up to the plate and do an ibiza weekender

Yeah, because radio 2 is the home of cutting edge dance music. I know they do playlist some dance stuff but it's generally horrible cheese - Avicii (sorry, RIP), latter day Daft Punk. It's just a shame there isn't a wee bit more specialist dance music coverage on 6 music.

was never a massive fan but he used to be a serious DJ with serious pretensions, worshipped by all the dubstep diehards

so god knows what he was doing at that c*nts banquet?!

Was just a tongue in cheek comment really, I didn’t realise radio 2 did an ibiza event. Every day is a school day.

Whole place would probably be a lot better if they jut kept everything underground.

I used to max out on my cringe scale when I saw billboards with Paris Hilton’s name on them and all the F**k me I’m famous tho stuff.

Think that was their 1st one. Might have been awesome - who knows? - but i really can't bring myself to listen to R2 to find out. I guess there are loads of people who go to Ibiza who are more R2 age bracket than R1. Maybe Ibiza is for old people and all the young ones go to Magaluf? ;)

Did no-one here attend R2 event?

I listened to it, wasn’t that good just the same old stories from Oakey, Rampling etc. Was at Pikes I too. Ana Mantronic show was a bit better, although the first time she’d been to Ibiza....

Just hearing koze pick up on radio one on annie mac show. I was always lead to believe that if you hear any 'underground' track on mainstream radio it isn't underground.

So, is it now 'commercial'?

It's on the r1 playlist. It has also been played on r2 (and 6 music). It's in no way an underground track, as in I don't believe it was conceived as such. It's obviously a commercial house track that will probably be all over the BBC and commercial stations by end of summer.
