POOR INNOCENT MAN THAT WAS SHOT

yes a tragedy indeed, wrong place, wrong time. I appreciate that the guy was scared shitless, but why did he run? If a load of armed coppers were pointing a gun at me I'd stay & take my chances. But it's the climate we are living in at the moment. You can't blame the police. They have a difficult job to do and we are living in strange time. The fact of the matter is that these ba****ds are still at large and some even bigger ba****ds are hiding them :?

There are no winners in all of this.

except those whose sole aim in life is to maim and kill,
im quite sure they are lapping this up right now.

as for the poor brazilian chap, he might not have understood what the hell was going on. very sad day for britain when an innocent man is shot dead. i recall the phrase "looked like a cornered rabbit..."

still, should the police believe there is a genuine threat and the guy running keeps running towards a train, then they have a job to do.

like buckley said, no winners...

Only losers. One Brazilian guy and several cops who'll have to live with the fact they killed an innocent man despite the absolutely most honorable of intentions.

Tough times.

imo I think we should be a little less opinionated about terrorists or suicide bombers in general. I know enough to say that their aim in life is not to 'maim and kill' even though that is being represented by many a newspaper. However harsh and tragic these acts are, these people do not wake up in the morning thinking about how much chaos they can create. The more we distance ourselves, the more problems we create.

Probably an unpopular view but an intelligent one sir.

1. dont read newspapers
2. my aim in life is to eventually find a nice girl, settle down and have kids and see out my life in relative boredom in suburbia

perhaps generalised, but if you want me to think any different of a c*** who sraps himselves with explosives and walks into a packed train, or jumps a plane and flies it into a building killing thousands, you've got your work cut out. if you think thats the height of my opinionated views you're short of the mark. i don't care what aims they have. as far as i can see, the only justification for al qaeda's cause is they want their state to return to oppresion, the kind of place music is banned, people are killed indiscriminately (bizarrely in the name of honour), women must cover up etc. etc. there is absolutely no justification for acts like this

yeah agree totally, im sure when they drove all the way to London, and then got onto packed rush hour trains with rucksacks loaded with explosives that they just wanted to scare a few people??

fatphill, where did you get these points? :?

To the people who believe shooting him was the correct response....

Would you still think it would be the right response if it was a member of your family, or someone you hold dear to you...?

and what if you were close to one of those murdered on the tubes or bus??

it was tragic. But I for one would like to see more armed police at stations!

They're all backward anyway, their regimes aren't civilised, they're still stuck in the middle ages, and by the way, when you die, you die, there is no afterlife there is no paradise and there certainly aren't 100 virgins waiting for you, and incidentally what do muslim women get when they die?? there is no god, your dead, dust, wormfood!!!

I would be devastated and probably not be able to think objectively (although it has previously been noted that I have an almost psychopathic ability to turn off my emotions) so no, at the time I probably wouldn't agree it was the right response. But that would be subjective, as opposed the logical conclusion I now reach.

Don't get me wrong - I am a believer in an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth etc. And I'm extremely aware that everyone is entitled to their beliefs and opinions - especially on these boards.

My opinions come from spending most of my youth, wandering if my Dad would come home. My Dad was armed forces and was invoved in many conflicts and lost lots of friends while protecting this country and the democracy and freedom we have today. He had very strong views.

Given some of the attrocities he experienced, he still would not take a life, just because the person in his sights "MIGHT" be a threat or "MIGHT" be linked to other attrocities.

Anyone who has to make the decision to take a life or let someone live as part of their job, deserves respect.

Terrorists (If guilty beyond any doubt) deserve nothing.

IMHO
