Usually the guys with 'room to dance' are right smelly buggers.

I'm sure all that breakdancing back in the 80s must have resulted in the odd inadvertent gaseous release .... as they say in Scotland, let your wind be free where 'ere ya be ....

Did chepeibz dare to have a different opinion and question your view on this forum as well then ? ....god forbid !

Having an opinion doesn't make you right.

"The earth is flat" is an opinion.
"Women who throw a punch; can take a punch" is an opinion.
"The final solution" was an opinion.

If you read back through my posts I make it very clear it is not about my opinion. Or your opinion. Or anybody elses. Opinions are subjective. (and often very, very wide of the mark - see above!)
It's about courtesy, manners & respect for other human beings.

I'll reiterate:
"People deserve respect" (me) vs. "I like taking selfies, and that's the only justification I need" (you)

It's the same argument we had on these forums some moons ago re: shuffling.

There's nothing wrong with doing it in-and-of itself. But if you start to compromise other people's experience then you should have a rethink.

This is not limited to using selfie-sticks. Or shuffling. But any kind of behaviour that could be considered annoying.

As another poster commented:

Do I take offence to people taking the odd pic? Not really, its not going to ruin my night.
Do I get annoyed with people taking reams of video and endless selfies on the dancefloor? Yes.

It's not an argument isle boy ....it's a debate on taking pictures in a club.

You consider picture taking the same as pick pocketing, stealing drinks, farting in a club and harassing women.....that is absolutely ridiculous. Having an opinion doesn't make it right..... but because I haven't agreed with yours you get frustrated and resort to getting personal

I have read your posts you contradict yourself and some paragraphs make no sense at all to the subject.

You need to learn that forums are where views are exchanged and opinions given, even ones that don't agree with you ( how terrible !! )

I am not for one minute insinuating that taking a photo is on par with sexual assault. My point merely being that what some people think is acceptance others (most) do not.

Where?

I'll repeat:

You are a hypocrite. You keep whittling on about your view this, your view that. But you are not holding yourself to your own degree of scrutiny.

so here's my tuppence to the debate....

I 'get' why people want to snap a photo or two with their buddies to keep as a memory of the night etc especially if they've not been before or it's been something they've been looking forward to, and I don't think anyone has a problem with that BUT what bugs the majority of us is when people are constantly taking photos (of the same thing, whether that is a selfie or not) or videoing for prolonged periods of time (specifically with the flash on) it's an irritation for the rest of us.

Personally I don't get the need for the photos/videos in dark clubs, the daytime outdoor events however are a different matter and snapping away at them is less likely to be an irritation (if it's not constant). I had a 'debate' with a girl at Ushuaia this year when I accidently knocked against her when I was dancing resulting in her phone dropping from her hand - she wasn't taking a photo but was videoing Duke Dumont's entire set (I think). we agreed to disagree on the merits of prolonged videoing, and she kind of got my point that I was just doing what is normal at these things by DANCING and enjoying the music, alas we didn't exchange numbers to keep in touch :eek:o_O

For the record, here is my original post - and thus my personal opinion - on the topic posted on another, very similar thread. It can be found here in its entirety: http://forum.ibiza-spotlight.com/threads/go-pro-selfie-sticks.73219/

So... do you sell these selfie sticks???

They're a really shitty thing to take to a club - where generally speaking there is already limited space. If you think they're a necessity for you to have a good time, then you're entitled to that opinion, but you're gonna be in the minority.

Just f***in' enjoy the party for gawd's sake. You are never gonna to replicate that same experience watching back on a tiny screen, with poor quality filming on a shaky hand-held device!!! And you make everybody hate you. Why anybody who isn't at the venue in a professional capacity would want one is beyond me.

The only reason you should be at a party is to let go, dance and embrace some escapism. Not attempt to film the next Blair Watch Project!

And if you seek the opinion of others on a forum which has a particularly strong contingent of clubbers then expect the majority to voice their disgruntlement!

I stand by that. But I would also echo @elmooreo 's sentiments one more time:

Do I take offence to people taking the odd pic? Not really, its not going to ruin my night.
Do I get annoyed with people taking reams of video and endless selfies on the dancefloor? Yes.

Like everything: moderation is key. And a sense of decorum and self-awareness.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T to others.

I don't know how we got onto selfie sticks, but I certainly don't think c@@t if someone is using one (personally never seen anyone in a club use one).

If you are in a club Louise, dancing, having fun with your pals, maybe on chems...how can someone taking a picture, selfie or a video iratate you ? How do you even take notice of these people? . I get it if they are shine the light in your eyes or blocking your view but that's rarely the case.

Blocking your view or shining in your eyes is to me the only time respect and self awareness would come into it.

I beg to differ, it ISN'T rarely the case, which is why it's become an increasingly irritating experience for those people who aren't glued to their smartphone/go pro etc etc

It's where I live elmoo, but my name has no bearing on the post

You are welcome to answer the question I have posed to Louise, genuinely interested as I do not notice them at all, and someone taking a picture would never kill my vibe.

We've been over this already, haven't we... it isn't just about you, is it. It's about everybody else in that venue too.

I don't think the DJ's on Facebook uploading constant footage of the amazing bass drop and the crowd going mild help deter these pricks from having their phone constantly recording, it's not going away any time soon. Especially when we have a new culture of selfie takers instantly uploading to Facebook and showing the world how amazing their day/night is at hardwell at Ushuaia

Sigh....iam beginning to think you are just one of the "cool kids" who just agrees with what ya pals on the forum say isle boy.

look at the question I posed to Louise......you can answer if you wish, try not to quote others or say " majority in a club" as you have no idea what the majority want.

Taken from another thread, but relevant:

Having not been to Circo a great many times, I'm perhaps ill positioned to comment. But from their roster of talent alone their musical direction is a lot more groovier, funkier than the minimal sound going back 5 years ago. And as Rometta points out they have lost star-talent in recent years, although their current crop of regulars is arguably the most underground it's ever been.

Is that what has made their numbers drop in a day where it's more important to boast to your mates about who you've seen when back home, as opposed to enjoy it in the moment for what is it?!
