ibiza heute: in accordance with your electoral program you also wanted to take care of the continuous party.
xico tarres: thats right, something had to be done about it. our intention is to bring into the club scene a certain order. we dont have anything against music in ibiza, but we are against the fact that this runs without interruption; because the experience showed that the side effects of these nonstop-parties are no longer acceptable. therefore we stand in close contact with the town halls, with the goal that before the summer each municipality has a closing hour. finally we must think about people, who have to work and want to rest.

 ibiza town plans to ban the after hours
"a measure applied since last summer in san antonio, and recently created in san josé, that would stop people into after hours looking for an alternative to those two municipalities in ibiza town"
from today's DDI:

 ibiza town will force pubs to open late afternoon to avoid after hours
"as this is a city we are working on a norm different to the one created in san josé, which bans the opening till noon. ours will be more restrictive because an after hours in the city could create serious problems to the neighbors"

as you might know already, this winter 3 venues in ibiza town open as after hours.....
from the ibiza sun:

Afternoon Opening
The councillor for tourism at the Town Hall of Ibiza, Vicente Ferrer, announced on Wednesday that his administration were looking at the possibility of restricting the opening hours of music bars and pubs. The clampdown on the so called "after-hours" bars has so far been universal from all of the municipalities. San Antonio and San Jose both recently announced new legislation which will prevent establishments from opening before 12 noon.
However, Ibiza Town is set to go a stage further and is hoping to soon unveil new regulations which will prohibit music bars from opening before late afternoon. Ferrer explained that he favoured these new regulations, and considered them appropriate for the capital. He claimed his administration had always tried to promote family and cultural tourism, and that having a music bar open at 10a.m. was simply not conducive to the type of tourism the municipality was aiming for.
His statements were followed several days later by promises to clean up binge drinking (botellon), and prostitution on the streets of the capital. The announcement was made by the councillor in charge of the police force, Ricardo Albin. He said fines of between €500 and €3,000 would be introduced to try and curb such antisocial behaviour which would also include graffiti vandals.

DC-10 Fears
The mayor of San Jose, Josep Mari Ribas, confirmed on Thursday his administration still had two cases pending against the club DC-10. Both concerned the overcrowding of the bar that can only officially allow 60 people inside. He said the situation could not be allowed to continue as it had been, and the bar would have to try and increase the maximum occupancy allowed, an increase he saw as "extremely difficult" due to the bar's location. It is inside the ses Salinas Natural Park, and Ribas confirmed it would be legally impossible to increase the capacity.
The bar will, from this year, have to obey new opening hours brought in by the Town Hall which will ensure it cannot open until 12p.m.
When asked if the current cases could result in the closure of the bar, Ribas confirmed it was not out of the question. However, even if the bar was to escape this threatened closure, its long term future is very much in doubt.

This sort of thing was always on the cards really wasn't it? I just wasn't sure of the exact nature of the 'licensing problems' that it had.

I'd say its days seem numbered, but as long as it opens ok (as I'm going to opening this year) then i'll be able to give it a send-off.

The party has to end for everyone sometime. Maybe it's this year for DC10.

How long has DC10 been open as DC10? i dont remember hearing about it in 1999 when i went but it wasnt long after that when i had heard about it. If it had reputation as 'an underground' club then it must have been open a while. Sounds like it became a victim of its own success, maybee before 1999 occupancy of 60 was enough!

Isn't it great? DC10 is in a natural park. Are the authorities scared that the parties will scare the big silver birds flying overhead?

That said, I remember the days when DC10 was a reasonably-priced alternative to the big discos. On new year's day it was 30 euros to get in and seven euros for a soft drink.

Welllllll....

I did not go before September just gone. And it was brilliant. I have no other baseline to measure against than the other clubs in Ibiza & it was possibly the best of the bunch. Music and crowd being the prime factors.

Appreciate it may not be as good as it was etc, but it very much has a purpose in the here and now.8)

as expected, there was some denounces on new years eve and new years day.....

 six venues denounced for noises or for not respecting the closing times
"san jose didnt hesitate to send the police to a well-known venue, which reopened to celebrate the first day of the year. san antonio also had five denounces, four of them for not respecting the closing times and one for making too much noise"

guess which is the well-known venue that reopened to celebrate the first day of the year :?::!:

Heard from a few people that were there that it was fantastic. Luciano was a no-show but was still good, despite that. It was still going strong when they legged it about 11pm.
