Missing Madeline

Besides, noone knows for definate if there is a God out there, so if by any small teeny weeny chance there is, and you need a prayer answered, you pray dont you?

pascal's wager...........

i have prayed before because there have been times when nothing else could help and would have helped and there was nothing more than could be done.

i don't believe in god, in fact i'm as cynical and objective as they come about religion. but when you are desperate, you will try anything to help.

the parents and family are the ones asking for the coverage. i think they are possibly being poorly advised but, the reqests for constant coverage IS coming from Maddie's family.

They are very religious people and so their going to church is perfectly reasonable.

That poor guy they have arrested is, i think, totally innocent. that stupid bint from the sunday mirror confused him with Ian Huntley who, to be fair, behaved suspiciously similarly to this guy whilst those poor girls were missing in Soham.

(btw, i drove throught the villiage of Soham a couple of months back and all i could think is how that place will forever be associated with those terrible murders. i'm sure it could have done nothing but harm to house prices there)

Sadly, i dont think that little Maddie girl has been alive since probably about a day after she went missing:x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

That stupid bint (I thought she was from Mail on Sunday but maybe it was Mirror) was just loving all the interviews she was giving when they arrested that bloke - you could just tell she was loving the attention and her 5 minutes of fame  :spank:

They are really religious - their vicar from home has even flown over to be with them last week cos they are really active members of their church community.

I don't see anything wrong with it - people cling onto whatever they can to give them comfort and if religion is helping them in some way then so be it.

Exactly, he is probably bringing them more comfort than say the police counciler (sp). Whatever gets you through things, be it praying, meditating, being around nature can only be a good thing.

Exactly - nobody knows how they would react in a situation like this (I'd probably be face down in a bucket of wine) but as long as it does something to help, albeit temporarily, then I think it's a good thing and I would never criticise someone for turning to God or prayer or wine or whatever to get them thru things.

question

I will take heat for this but here goes. If they were at church with their children instaed of a pub we wouldn't be talking about this.

I don't understand your point  If they were in the pub instead of going to church then I wouldn't blame them, in times of stress I always turn to wine

Nope, I don't. I have no reason, other than the fabricated fairytales that creationist religions have spouted thus far, to believe that if there is a creator he/she is benovelent.

I apparently missed something this weekend. Did they now arrest the neighbor guy? I thought he'd just been searched and questioned

The reporter was from the Mirror. This guy better have done it or, if I were him, I'd sue her until she had nothing left but the clothes on her back!

Do you mean the Russian bloke - I think he is still just a 'witness' for now.The other bloke (the English one who'd been living in Portugal for years) is a 'supsect' but they haven't got enough evidence to arrest him

Sorry we missed you on Saturday night - 12 hours drinking and I wasn't fit for purpose   Did you find a good roast yesterday??

There's a Russian guy involved now too? Oh dear....not looking forward to the local coverage of that twist!

That's quite alright about Saturday... I'm not sure how long I would have lasted given my blood alcohol level by the time the clubbing hour rolled around

We found the Big Chill but there were no seats outside :( Ended up getting some Bangladeshi as the wonderful smells of spices on the streets proved too seductive.

Yep some Russian computing bloke I think it is - they've not found anything suspicious yet but you know the good old British press, his face has been platered all over the place for the last few days

Yep you have to get there early for the Big Chill to get a seat, next time I shall take you both to one of Carter's establishments - the best Sunday roasts in London Town ;)

I was in the big chill on sat too. It was absolutely rammed

I liked a quote from a spokesman for the investigation:

"It's a very dynamic investigation. The suspect couldn't become a witness, but the witness could become a suspect."

It sounds like they are just pooling all of their resources into pinning it on Murat and not investigating any other individuals. Thats not exactly 'dynamic' now is it!

It was bliss not reading the papers for the past 3 days... now back to reality, I suppose...

Definitely up for a roast about town next time we're around (probably August)

Fab, I'll hold you to that - the Defectors does the best one - the only downside is there are no screens for the footy but the pub opp shows the footy if the season has started so Tom and Ferd and co often run between them both if a game is getting exciting :spank:
