Bout time.

Make it a dual carriagway.

Install foot bridges over it.

Have footpaths along the side of it seperated from the road by armoco or reactive spring loaded barriers.

Job done.

Absolutely, and get the clubs to contribute as well.

Yet Another New Road Plan for the Sant Antoni to Ibiza Road.
The Consell Island Government this week revealed yet another new plan for the Ibiza to Sant Antoni road. This is a scaled down version of the super highway they had planned  & hope that it will meet with the approval of the anti motorway lobby on the island as well as with the opposition politicians.
(they wish  )
The new road will be a dual carriage way only 23 metres wide made up of 4 lanes of 3.5mtrs with hard shoulders 2.5mtrs wide on the outside & 1mtr wide on the inside. There will be a 2mtr wide central island. 5 pedestrian flyovers will be built & there will be a total of 7 roundabouts along the 13km length of the road which replace all the previously planned multilevel junctions. A "Macro Roundabout" will be built especially to create safe access to Amnesia Disco & the industrial estate on the other side of the road as well as to the fire station.
The main road will still be diverted through a tunnel  , which will pass under the Sant Rafael village. There will be slip lanes built at the entrances of the tunnel so that traffic can travel on the surface to reach the village & the Privilege disco as well as the turnoff to Santa Eulària.
The new plan will supposedly cost less than the 102 million€ quoted for the original super highway scheme but no official figure was stated. The Sant Rafael tunnel will still be the most expensive part of the project costing around 29 million€. Also putting this latest road plan into operation should mean that only 2 private houses & a warehouse have to be demolished to make way for the new road.
The next phase is a series of meetings with the anti motorway lobby on the island as well as with the opposition politicians to see if all concerned can agree with this new road plan
(they wont agree with that tunnel..........) & allow the contracting phase to start.

Tram Ways Proposal.
The Pacto Socialist opposition in the Consell Island Government this week proposed that the new planning laws for the island, known as the PTI, should incorporate the concept of building at least 3 tram lines on the island. The idea appears to be to build these tram links between Ibiza & Sant Antoni, Ibiza & the airport & Ibiza & Santa Eulària as way of promoting the use of public transport on the island & improving the service. The Pacto claim the trams would be fast, efficient, comfortable & energy saving as well as being a tourist attraction for the island. They also want the bus services in outlying areas of the island improving both in summer & winter. The Pacto claim that the PTI should include provision for these public transport improvements to be made.

Ecologists Ask The EU To Help Protect The Environment On The Island.
The leading ecological groups on the island sent their representatives to Brussels this week to hold talks with EU representatives. They hope that they can convince the EU that the Balearic Government & Consell Island Government are breaking EU environmental protection laws & directives if they go ahead with their plans to build motorways on the island & to change the PTI planning laws for the island as well as reduce in size the areas of the island that are classed as natural park reserves. The ecologists have gone to Brussels with a 40 page document which outlines how the building of the motorways & the possible urban expansion proposed under the new PTI planning laws for Ibiza will destroy the natural habitats of EU protected species & fauna as well as invade EU protected natural environment areas. The ecologists hope that their evidence will move the EU to block the plans of the PP Conservative Balearic & Consell Island Governments.

Environmentalists Give Awards To Roads Minister.
Both the Friends of the Earth & the GEN environmentalist group have given their awards for the person who creates most ecological damage on the island each year to Stella Matutes. Stella is the Consell Island Government Roads Minister who has defended the plans of the Balearic Government to build motorways on the island which all the environmentalists consider excessive & destructive for the environment of the island.

Der Spiegel Slams PP Conservative Consell for Roads & Building.
The popular German magazine, the Der Spiegel, heavily criticised the PP Conservative Consell island Government for allowing so much construction & motorway building to go ahead on the island. The magazine supposedly questions the need for 6 lane motorways when the maximum journey on the island is 35 kilometres  . They also seemingly tell their thousands of readers how the island is being buried under tons of concrete constructions, new housing & road building, which is following the bad example, already set by Mallorca, & is putting German tourists off from coming to Ibiza. Der Spiegel explains how the popular protests by many residents on the island has not been enough to make the PP Conservatives change their road building & planning laws. The magazine apparently also goes on to reportedly say that Stella Matutes is responsible for the road building plan & is the politically inexperienced daughter of Abel Matutes, the ex foreign Minister of Spain. The magazine claims Abel Matutes won lots of EU funding for environmental protection but now these same areas are being used as illegal rubbish dumps.

and heres the politically inexperienced daughter taking the piss and wearing t-shirts against the motorways:
