So true.... I would LOVE to have photos from when we went out first.. Some cracking photos to see!! 100% we would have used our phones.. My nephews are brought up with their 3rd hand, sorry l mean phone, so dont think anything of it, filming etc.. Its their norm and yes, it could have been ours.I am constantly conflicted on the filming thing (search back on here on some heated discussion with @Kent Kid )
While I'm certainly in the "filming everything/too much is bad" camp, I think older clubbers are naïve to believe that had the technology been around 20 years ago, they wouldn't have used it. They would have. It's culturally ingrained in the the time and place
You can see the progression from club photography being a few obsessive cataloguers, to every event hiring mates with a bit of kit and then later professional photographers, picture pals flogging keyrings and theme park ride-like glossy photos and then the rise of mobile phones and finally the highly edited "after movie". This didn't happen overnight
The reality is, I don't think we're far away from venues offering an extra VIP bolt-on where they have crews creating a documentary of individual group's experience, much like wedding videos
