Not sure where to ask this.

The 528 rules for arrivals today is only taxi or shuttle from San An.

We are getting a lift from a friend from SE - surely they’ll allow drop-offs, no? Just no parking (which we don’t need)

they might not let you drive up to the venue today

The footfall and traffic in Ses Paisses two weeks ago probably put a strain on public relations. Given how the R1 crowd is a lot younger and less, how do i put this delicately, self-aware, I think they want to avoid litter, shouting/screaming and urinating in the residential area. Let us be reminded of some of scenes on the sunset strip post R1 in past years

I mean "self obsessed InstaTok knobjockeys" would've worked as well, but let's go with what you said

(tongue firmly in cheek)

I'm not in the Clockwork Orange age range, more of a late 00s/early10s man myself but I think it's nice that people have something to be a part of and relive the good times.

It also happens just before peak season so brings some good crowds to venues who may otherwise just have an average sized crowd in.
I’ve not been to Clockwork since the 90s. But I see the appeal of the reunions and will probably go at some point. It looks fun. And that’s what it’s all about imo. Equally last time I went out in Ibiza was for Dixon and Trikk and that was great.

Ibiza has never had so much variety. There is a lot more choice than ever before. I find it so hypocritical that people berate folk for wanting to hear Carl Cox, but promote the virtues of wanting to hear David Holmes. I do agree that there is an old BBC mafia, but Holmes was as much a part of this as anyone in the 90s. It’s just so pretentious.

oh f*** off. You’re comparing Holmes with the kind of cheeseball clowns who play freed from desire?

Get over yourself pal. You don’t have the monopoly on determining what’s cool, edgy and acceptable, and what’s not. You need to go back and listen to some of the stuff Holmes has played out over the years. Anyway, I’m out.

I lost my temper. I apologise.

I only lost my temper cos I care though. When you’ve invested 33 years of your adult life in music it kinda matters. Maybe too much but that’s just how it is. Either you get it or you don’t.

I urge people to support OpenLab. By all means slag it if you think it’s shit but give it a chance. They’re trying something different and have my full respect.

I kinda had similar opinions re Clockwork...too young to have done it when it was big in the nineties so have only seen the later events...some of the UK events look really poor but I saw a few vids of the Ibiza ones last week and to be fair it looked class, vibe was spot on people dancing in the sunshine enjoying themselves.

One thing that impressed me from the clockwork vids I’ve seen is the lack of phones on the floor and people just enjoying themselves like we used to. I’m confident in saying the younger generation don’t enjoy the music as much as we did they are more interested in the likes on social media. Controversial?

It’s not all about taking risks. It’s about having a good time.
As people get older they get more and more responsibilities and can't be going to clubs every week like when they were younger. Life gets in the way. It could be that they get one 'blow out' per year and just want to almost guarantee themselves a good time listening to tunes from their youth, rather than taking a risk on newer artists that they don't know all that much about.

You just hope that the smaller, fledgling, more groundbreaking nights and artists are given what they need to develop and grow and keep things moving forward overall.

I’m definitely in that bracket you described. There is no reason why the same people can’t enjoy both, I certainly do, even if it’s not Clockwork. While ibiza has never really been the bastion of the underground, there are plenty of options in Ibiza to suit many dance music tastes. It stands to reason that clubbers will have to search harder for more obscure sounds.

We didnt have phones growing up, and certainly didn't have them clubbing in the early 90's. So its not something most "older" people would think to do taking pictures / filming the night.. Clubs are for dancing, cameras are for weddings and so on.. I was at an outdoor event yesterday in Dublin, generally an older crowd (40+) and not a phone in sight.. Those younger 18-30 or so, taking photos stuck out.. Controversial l know, and everyone is entitled to do as they please in life as long as they dont hurt anyway. Thats my two cents :)

I am constantly conflicted on the filming thing (search back on here on some heated discussion with @Kent Kid )
While I'm certainly in the "filming everything/too much is bad" camp, I think older clubbers are naïve to believe that had the technology been around 20 years ago, they wouldn't have used it. They would have. It's culturally ingrained in the the time and place

You can see the progression from club photography being a few obsessive cataloguers, to every event hiring mates with a bit of kit and then later professional photographers, picture pals flogging keyrings and theme park ride-like glossy photos and then the rise of mobile phones and finally the highly edited "after movie". This didn't happen overnight

The reality is, I don't think we're far away from venues offering an extra VIP bolt-on where they have crews creating a documentary of individual group's experience, much like wedding videos
