However I agree with what he said regards to being fussy when you have done so many parties. I feel I am the same at times. Once a level gets set of expectation from previous experiences it is hard to enjoy what often can be a bit of a mediocre night.
Burnout is then the word. Maybe time to prioritise quality over quantity?

To those people who have been to Circoloco since the garden has been shut down, what time do people tend to go in now, are people going in later as there's no dancing under the sky any more?
Also is the music more full-on earlier or is it still more of a slow build up as it turns from day to night?

Any advice welcome, thanks 🙂

I was so looking forward to the 3rd of October, but with this change and with it being quite a heavy hitter night with Beyer and Solomun I'm now extra concerned with the rammed crowd, even more than usual haha. I was also really hoping to see Adam Port play in the Garden which obviously wont happen now.

Arrived about 21:45 last night and Terrace started to fill more by the minute up to Seth who was on at 23:00. So I think putting him on at that time helped. Main Room started to fill up even earlier actually. “Perfectly Busy” is such an over used term, but it really was. I’m also in the 1% of people on this island that prefers just Terrace and Main Room open as it gets people in those rooms going earlier in my opinion.

Get to the terrace while the sun is still shining

I think @Tourist smells of wee

What’s the number one rule of Spotlight? Everyone repeat after me…..

Don’t be a c*nt

that went well...

It's very strange sometimes I can pick the djs I like with the club I like and still not have a great time,

I think it's true that expectations are so high and sometimes it does not live up to it

Partly that and also the quality of new releases out there. Too many DJs load up the latest tunes without any quality control cos its easy. I think the competitive nature of the biggest parties means the vibe can get a bit samey cos people are terrified of losing the floor.

Agree. Some of the best sets I’ve heard the last few weeks out here have been from the less well known DJs. Maybe it’s an expectations thing, or maybe just a few more chances being taken, or they are closer to some of the newer material out there.

However, I also think too many of us put too high expectations on some big nights. I.e. put Solomun & Dixon on a line-up and we expect the best set ever. But they can’t always deliver that no matter how good they are.

My advice is just go open minded and discover new things. Still go and see established nights and DJs but don’t always go thinking it has to be the best set from the last 10 years.

Thanks!
I think I'll definitely be going on the earlier side.

Does anyone know why Ushuaia have changed their start and finish times? As their starting from 5pm and finish at 11pm instead of the usual 3pm-00:00am?

with David Morales as guest..this wednesday
While I lurk here learning about the white Isle I hope I can pop in with a wee story or two now and again.
In 2000 my now wife and some buddies were off to see David Morales at a peach of a club called Sublime in central Sydney. It was an awesome sweatbox with a great crowd , mostly Brits. I'd seen Morales a couple of times in my Sankeys/Cream days and not loved him so didn't swap out of my night shift, which I could have got out of if I'd really wanted to.
Well... I got home at 0930 and no one was to be found, I instantly knew it had been a huge night....
They all rolled in about 1130 some babbling about the "evil, snake eyed genius..."
They also said it got so intense ....that Morales (the snake eyed genius) stopped the music and told everyone to calm down. He then played some chill out tracks, started his set - the crowd intensity cranked up - and then he gave up for good. The finisher DJ (Jumping Jack) then came on and it was back to insanely nuts again to the finish at 630am.
I think the ammo in the club was good that night - European quality - not the local rubbish now...
I also know that US DJ's used to stop the music to "build intensity" - a NY guest DJ did it at Cream one time in 1997 and it was a disaster for a UK crowd... lead ballon.
But I've never heard of someone stopping their set and asking folks to calm down.
So if someone could ask Morales if this really happened - if they see him - I'd be grateful as one of my big regrets in life is missing that night.
