oh believe me we would love to have that.

thing is, we genuinely don't feel like doing our own proper club night. so what we'd need is a small space in one of the big clubs like el salón was which we could host one night. and the only place I can see this happening right now would be the funky room of pacha, which they only brought back this year.

please remind me about this after new years and I shall speak to jessica capaz! we'd love to do at least one night - ideally mid-september, after the main season and before the big closings. would be nice to have a night with lots of you in there and @mr_sick would finally get to have his DJ set which he missed out on years ago because he didn't check his messages... think @diver would be another hot favourite for a set!

I can see it happening...

I’d love to be part of this.
What about a daytime or smaller venue? Doesn’t have to be a main club.

Would be amazing!!! :) Reminder is now on my calendar for early January :)
 
Obviously it's very early and there won't be any announcements until late May, but what weekend is R1 weekend likely to be next year? As the friday falls on 31st July would it go on to the next week?

Both of my friends that came the last 2 years are giving early indications that they may not come next year. All of my other friends either aren't interested or couldn't keep up with me previously so i'm gonna need to find some new friends ??

Hard to tell, usually its 3rd/4th August so it could go either earlier or later next year. You usually get a clue when nights get announced and there's a random gap on a Friday or Saturday. Like say Ants announced for every Saturday but not that weekend for example.
 
Think next year will be the 25th Radio 1 weekend, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the last. It’s so far removed from its glory days that it’s almost an irrelevance. As it’s a landmark anniversary, hopefully they’ll do it justice and not just have that certain monotonous techie sound they play these days by Annie Mac and Danny Howard et al, which is frankly awful.

Ideal scenario is they bring back some of the best Ibiza R1 shows like Jules, love groove dance party, maybe one last Oaky Essential Mix from amnesia and even a bit of Cox.
 
@SeoulSaint do you not just think they are moving with the sounds that are popular with their core demographic 18-25? Coxy, sure. But Jules & Oakie? Perhaps if they do a Radio 2 satellite event at Pikes?

Most radio 1 listeners won’t even know who most of those djs are! Radio 1 just need to do a tie in with the clockwork weekend by the sounds of things. Are mac and Howard really playing techno now?!

I do agree though, radio 1 ibiza weekends are so far removed from what they were that I struggle to see the point. It’s certainly not for anything remotely resembling cutting edge music.
