But that’s the point, if they do bow out, I’m sure the kids won’t mind being exposed to some proper dance music for one weekend. Didn’t say the current ones are “techno”, but techie. Actually trying to be nice, as there are plenty of other words like complete b0lloxs. If you turn on R1 on a Friday and no one said a word, you’d have no idea if it was Tong, Danny Howard or the others as they all sound the same. Surely young people should have more variety of electronic music? Most radio 1 listeners won’t even know who most of those djs are! Radio 1 just need to do a tie in with the clockwork weekend by the sounds of things. Are mac and Howard really playing techno now?!
I do agree though, radio 1 ibiza weekends are so far removed from what they were that I struggle to see the point. It’s certainly not for anything remotely resembling cutting edge music.
It’s been a few years since I knowingly heard radio 1 apart from the occasional essential mix. I don’t miss the days of ibiza weekend overcrowding at Priv, space or amnesia though. Not sure of the difference between techno and techie. But I think the radio 2ibiza weekend has a lot of potential. But that’s the point, if they do bow out, I’m sure the kids won’t mind being exposed to some proper dance music for one weekend. They just need to regenerate the whole thing with some decent music imo. There is so much they could do with that weekend. For the last few years they seem to have pissed the concept up the wall, with notable exceptions. They definitely need to bring back that stage in front of Mambo for it and do an event at Privilege or Hï
Definitely! I didn't even bother with it this year with it basically being an Ibiza Rocks day time party. 2017 however was brilliant, still makes me laugh to look at how much of a state i was, couldn't even balance on the rocks in front of the stage? They definitely need to bring back that stage in front of Mambo for it and do an event at Privilege or Hï

Don't get it? explain? There's a new genre on the way..?
Melodic defo not EDM, I hate EDMMelodic EDM?
What would it be called, progressive house? Better than back in the day they used to call "vocal house" glitterbox style" funky house, that's a silly nameIf we wanted to get pedantic, "melodic" is a silly name. But it wouldn't be the first - or worst - silly name attributed to a sound/style of play, and I actually quite like that it differentiates itself from techno and higher tempo house music. I'm sure a lot of purists would prefer it not to be mislabelled as techno, as well
