Hopefully he won't have the competition on Fridays as Maceo did on Tuesdays.
Uh-oh.
Hopefully he won't have the competition on Fridays as Maceo did on Tuesdays.
The biggest risk is if he tries to curate the line-up's himself like Maceo did. I can see a Job Jobse, Jennifer Cardini, Dixon line up failing. Would be fantastic musically though.
Knowing people that work with Dixon and the things i hear, i do not think he will have this huge transition like Solomun did.
First of all, Solomun became ''the king of after party'' and the most popular name in the underground scene thanks to Ibiza and to this watered down style. Dixon is already has a huge cult following. He still sells out parties at Amsterdam Dance Event before Solomun, same venue different day.
Second, he has a family and can't have the lifestyle of Solomun. He has a goal to retire before he gets too old so probably he wants to do this Ibiza thing before he retires.

Lol what ever happened to just Going outSeen a couple of comparison between Dixon and Maceo's move, but the circumstances are completely different IMO. Maceo dominated the Space terrace under Enter, those sets were incredible and that was definitely his hottest moment. When Enter finished it looked like he might get his own night, but he didn't quite have the star power to pull it off. in the end he didn't really keep the momentum up in the year or two between Enter and Pacha, and it fell slightly flat. When you look at the DJ's that the most successful nights have under their umbrella to call on (Cocoon, Enter, etc) Maceo had nothing like that to back him up, and while Solomun had made the +1 concept his own, Maceo's offering was light.
Dixon is an established heavyweight with a well developed brand and loyal following, you just have to look at how many people make a point of flying in to Ibiza especially for when he is playing to demonstrate that. With the support of Innervisions, this night has more potential than almost anything else in recent memory.

curious that nobody is talking about privilege this summer. so great where the hopes of the club "being back" two years ago, with some good nights. this summer apart from resistance there is nothing so far and nobody even talks about them. Is the behemoth gone back to sleep already?
Andy Whitby wrote this after his famous bio, surely? The Innervisions profile on Resident Adviser is amazing. Not sure if something got lost in translation but it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever
...Together they form Innervisions’ unique audio-visual universe. With Berlin as its home, Innervisions evolves from within the city and evokes impressions from all over the world with its releases. Yet Innervisions‘ name reflects something more personal. It reflects the intuitive push toward certain ideas. The name was chosen out of the belief that all art forms, not just music, are a materialized sphere of ideas. The encounter with such a materialized sphere of ideas in a book, an exhibition or a track triggers certain sensations and sensibilities. Following on from this, an inner vision not only allows sensations and sensibilities to evolve inside one’s mind. It keeps on spinning from there to generate new ideas.
