When i first heard Cream was leaving i wondered about A&B hosting their own night could of been something like 'Ajunabeats' Room 1, 'Ajunadeep' Room 2...obviously not in Amnesia if Cream couldn't get the numbers. I think something like that would very much have a place still in Ibz (but im out the trance scene so could be completely wrong)

I'm far from the trance scene for a long while now, but i do agree. Anjunadeep has a nice pull and can vary the artists from their own label as well as add some guest whereas A&B can host a 'trance' room if you will. I haven't enjoyed anything much from Above & Beyond in a long time but i do still give their 2011 Essential Mix a listen and i still think it holds up.

I like how Cuckooland is on a Friday. There basically no daytime parties then so id be more likely to go, even tho tech house isn't my thing.

I think that’s the problem Re trance - its completely lost its identity. Above and beyond haven’t played trance in years. PvD was in the trouse camp for a long time and may still be for all I know. There is still a lot of good quality trance around, much of it progressive and I agree with @Ikoda that a lot of techno djs are playing a lot of hypnotic trancey tunes now. I don’t know which came first, the down turn in the popularity of trance or the bandwagon jumping of the scenes biggest names to chase the dollar. The problem with the later is that those names remain associated with trance, it’s scene and it’s nights and have tainted the genre. Of course, trance hasn’t helped itself with far too many epic drops and vocals and general commercialisation but that is certainly not a new thing, that’s been happening since the 90’s.

It’s interesting how things evolve. It’s not that long ago that trance nights dominated in Ibiza. House nights are not what they used to be either.

I think Cream Ibiza ending is really really sad... for decades now Amnesia really has been at its most magnificent positive best in terms of atmosphere on Cream nights. This is not a natural death though unlike most ibiza club nights but an extremely premature one...

I think it was more a corporate pull of the plug by Live Nation's corporate types (Live Nation..the world's biggest concert promoter is the ultimate owner of Cream/Creamfields) as they are they most interested in massive festivals and not keen on chasing club nights. Amnesia I believe made a poor offer and the numbers were crunched and the corporate types with no real connection to Ibiza decided to pull the plug. The Cream Ibiza following is extremely huge... social media and otherwise and a very loyal one. The booking policy of the last few years may have been a tad too expensive and not as nurturing however this is a corporate plug pull.

People with more detailed knowledge may feel to elaborate now or with time.

If you look at what's going on there across the board, not just Thursdays, it seems - to me at least - that they wanted to take back more control of their door. And it was always going to be easier to negotiate a more favourable deal with newer promoters than existing ones.

It always amazes me the number of people still that bothered about what Carl Cox is doing in Ibiza!

On another note, March is finally here. This is more the business end of the gossip season - hopefully, across the next few weeks we get a clearer view of how things are going to be panning out this season as there are a number of unanswered questions at this stage...

for some reason, whenever people come on to ask about carl cox, I read their posts in a slow, robotic dalek voice

Is.... Carl.... Cox.... playing... anywhere.... this....summer.... carl..... cox.... is.... master....of.... the... universe...

:D:D:D

I dont mind CC, but I do think a lot of people follow him just cos its a "credible" name that wont bring ridicule from anyone if they drop it when asked who did they hear play in Ibiza.
