*** ibiza 2018 observations ***

ive done 5 elrow ibz 17(opening/closing 3 in summer), 1 was boring samdodromo end july
ive done 2 cocoon ibz 17,aug 4th with sext troxler Ricardo & Closing more than boring i had to talk with girls to keep calm :D sorry for all coocon addicts here
i was wondering if there is cocoon lovers that dont do drugs :?:
i dont have anyone among mine :lol:
Elrow is not popular among Techno blokes but im asking question about judgement when ur minds is full of drugs :D
u don t like Elrow, ok but dont judge all people that like this party as people that don't have music knowledge :rolleyes:

its my feeling about this party , just hope it will be a good one at pacha for Closing
its statistics about all people i know that enjoy Cocoon , they like their drug
Here u got the big boss that like Cocoon, looks like people are afraid to tell if they dont like the party
i like Louie Vega Joey Negro, it wont prevent me from saying , they play boring music this last hour & so on...if i feel they play boring music
i trust my ears , my musical background as musician, rythm geared

you truly couldn't be further from the truth gp.

just because I and a lot of other people on this board like cocoon doesn't mean people can't voice their opinion. I have nothing against anyone that says they don't like this or that party (very much including cocoon - I actually have a lot of close friends that don't like cocoon and yet they are still my friends).

what I have a problem with, and I think I have said this before, is that a) I can and have enjoyed many a party, including cocoon, without any stimulants - not even alcohol.
b) I truly am annoyed at reading the same posts of yours over and over again when it comes to drugs and especially in connection to parties that aren't your taste. I get it, you don't do drugs and you think there are parties which you can only enjoy with stimulants. I am officially asking you now to 1. accept everyone's taste is different and other people may very well enjoy a party without stimulants even though you think it's impossible and 2. stop to always repeat the same silly phrase about stuff. ibiza, up to a very big extent has always been about tolerance towards other people and opinons about stuff and I genuinely think you show very very little of that.

I'm just fed up to see a lot of post against Elrow ,I do agree for some points ,rammy place but boring music ,I don't agree especially with many parties I've attended in ibz I found boring Cocoon Hyte Cream Black Coffee Dc10 Circoloco
But i never saw a post from people saying they don't like Cocoon
I didn't say I don't like Sven but for me what I heard at Cocoon last year was boring
Nice at benimussa Km5, Ok at Ims Dalt Villa 18.
People want to tell they listen to best music very Keen on this and so on..
Well ,do u have thousand of vinyls cds?
Oh it's just Mp3 :D

but that is the beauty of it gp, everyone has their own opinion and here everyone is allowed to voice it as long as you respect the rules.

actually I remember that @cunninghamali last year wrote she didn't rate cocoon. and she's by far not the only one. and neither I nor anyone else on here did ever attack anyone because they did or did not like a party. personally, elrow bores me because after seeing it twice, the surprise effect is gone and once that has happened, the party to me doesn't have any depth. but I totally understand that a lot of people love it. live and let live gp, when it comes to musical preferences as well as when it comes to the discussion as to whether anyone takes drugs or not. even though it's not against the rules, I have to say it really gets boring to always read the same over and over again.

Was just about to say I don't like cocoon but people on here never say a bad word about it.....I don't like Elrow either, went once and had a good night but wouldn't go again!

That being said I will go cocoon closing, partly because nothing else on I fancy that day and would be interesting to give it another go, not going for long tho,

the real party for me will be afterlife closing...
 
Just to add about Elrow. I went a couple weeks ago with a bunch of Ibiza virgins and people who aren’t exactly the most clued up musically. I thought it would be a perfect party for them.

The first hour or so they thought it was cool, but the production got old to them quicker than I expected. We ended up moving to the main room to hear Alicante who was playing much better music (too little too late). The next day they all told me how they thought the music was boring other than the last bit with Alicante. They got spoiled with Afterlife a few nights before.

Kinda shows you the production only takes you so far. It always comes down to the music.
 
I think it is important to touch on what has been mentioned - Elrow is a production. That is exactly what it is and it appeals to the mass that are not totally in the know or have the experience of a truly good night. It works well in the 'popular' world and popular is not always best (Apple phones / Justin Bieber / McDonalds). It simply draws a lot of people through clever marketing/social media/convenience

However would Elrow be an enjoyable night if it wasn't so rammed? subjective of course but I still don't think it is an enjoyable night... Different definitely but it does not 'enhance' a night out and when you really think back to your most memorial night we could all safely say it wasn't Elrow not even close
 
I actually really liked Elrow when it was at Vista club, good sized venue and didnt get too rammed, was a new night to Ibiza and attracted a lot more Spanish than English, when I went to it at Space I had changed my mind about it, and I really decided it wasn't for me anymore when I went to the London festival at Queen Elizabeth Park, but that was completely different anyway.

The production of Elrow gets old quite quickly, and while it is funny the first few times, after a while what are you getting other than the same music

For those that say they don't like Cocoon, I think is strange as that is a music night, rather than a production heavy night like Elrow, so could it be you went on a night you didn't like the DJ? I went to a Cocoon once where Loco Dice was on the terrace and I didnt like that too much, but went on to have other amazing nights, usually where Sven played!
 
i ve been to elrow at vista ibz 13, space ibiza 5 times at least,10 times at amnesia
Did i get bored? not really, it s upon the djs on Terrace.
Party is ok,FUN, i m no more impressed by the show, Music is Ok Technouse, great when some djs put house flavours On their mix & on main room it's upon djs, but it's always a fun party.
For people that can't stand rammy place, this party can be a nighmare, just build a pack then u may enjoy Elrow.
I got ears, not influenced by media, my kind of music is more aT glitterbox, Heart Factory ,Blue Marlin ibz, Ocean beach (even it may be sometimes commercial)all place tha play HOUSE, all desert house parties are ok but far FAR from my definition of wicked music that is on my usb KEY :D
 
a few rambling thoughts here....

FGP accusing people of being sheep would have more validity if he wasn't such a sheep himself. A walking (sleeping?) advertising hoarding for many big brands. Are certain people on here unnecessarily obsequious towards certain parties? Maybe in some cases (especially those who for whatever reason don't get out much at home) but, at the same time, is there a cult around say Sven that exceeds his actual talent? I'm not sure there is. His legendary status is in part due to his longevity and history and his parties having a loyal fanbase who I imagine are there for the music and not to gawp at him. He obv inspires people who don't even remember l'esperanza let alone Dorian Gray.

Also there's no obv reason why this site should be more oriented to 4/4 fans. I don't know why Cocoon and Circo should have way more fans on SPL (forum-wise) than certain other nights, maybe that's because an urban/reggaeton crowd at "Gangstar" or "Rich Bitch" isn't as fanatical about the actual DJs and feels no need to discuss them on public forums? or because they would get "flamed" if they tried? Or in the case of Namaste, perhaps their fans are more discreet and only communicate via smoke signals in the North? Who knows?

Also, maybe it's my age and the fact I've been in this game since forever but I don't do hero worship, even though I am insanely jealous of certain DJs' record bags. My only criteria is the music, the venue, the crowd, so obv the likes of El Row are anathema to anyone like me who grew up at parties with maybe a single strobe or laser. I've tried to become more diplomatic on here over time. It's been a painful learning curve and ain't easy, esp when people write shit or obv don't know what they're talking about, but focusing on what you are into is more productive.

As for the drugs, I find pro & anti drug evangelism alike equally tiresome. I just take the view that going to certain parties and being shocked to find people indulging is a bit like Captain Renault in 'Casablanca' being "shocked! shocked!" to find gambling going on in the casino....

Just because some people like el Row and some people don't like cocoon does not mean that they do not about music! Everyone obvs has different opinions and everyone is entitled to like what they like. I personally don't think sven is as amazing as you guys think, but so what! It's my opinion. I don't see the point in having a debate about el Row being shit but cocoon is so great, if we all liked the same parties it would be boring....
