*** ibiza 2018 observations ***

catching her for the first time at ADE in october with DVS 1, dettmann & oscar mulero and honestly am not sure how does she fit the style of music of the three

She fits it perfect IMO. Obviously with that lot she will be the opener, but she always plays a good set open, headline, or close, shes talented, well worth a listen.

WooMooN closing was fantastic last night.
Great crowd, phenomenal music - Jan Blomqvist & the band might be a new favourite!
The only downside is the small fortune spent. Happy to justify it when good times are had!

Agreed, best night I’ve had here in years. My only downside was how busy it was outside, Brina Knauss was great.

Saw Blomqvist @ Woomoon earlier this year. He is awesome.
Agree with the Woomoon vibe...but a hippie / old Ibiza vibe with new Ibiza prices though....food and drinks will cost you a small fortune.

Know he won’t be the most popular DJ on this forum...but its been refreshing to see Calvin Harris out and about enjoying Ibiza all week, from his social media he’s been at Music On, Glitterbox, Ushuaia, played football with Tinie Tempah and Aoki.

Been a while since these A list EDM stars actually got in to the Ibiza vibe rather than just flying in and out as quickly as possible.

So with Resistance, Shine, Solid Grooves, Supermartxe and Rich Bitch have Privilege had a good Season so far?

so-so. resistance v good, solid grooves as well. shine depending on date, supermartxé not really and rich bitch I genuinely don't know, but I think they're feeling the competition (other clubs doing same music now) too.

and he's totally packed out his 3 dates at pacha too.

Heard some good reviews from people about his nights at Pacha this year. Good on him.

Saw him at Amnesia a good few years ago, but he just seamed to be playing his own tracks and nothing else. Was a good job Paul Van Dyk was on in the next room.

I’m not sure how it works, maybe someone on here will know? But back then was he locked into some sort of contract where he could only play his own tracks from his latest album?

As apposed to now when he can actually play what he wants, like a DJ should?

Saw him last week at Pacha and yes it was a more Deep House style than his EDM sets of old, he probably did less than 10 of his own records across the night.

Probably more of a change in style than a contractual thing though 4/5 years ago he was still going for big sing-along stadium anthems whereas his singles the last couple of years have been slower and more funky.

He was playing house before he done all.the pop colabs.. kid down well.if you ask me..

Proper grafter. I was involved in some nights that booked him for PA's probably 10 years ago now. Proper nerdy bloke but really nice. Fair play to him can't begrudge the success he has had. Very talented producer.

Same goes for Example, the only person I've seen get properly on it on a Sunday night in a leafy home counties town...

Calvin's done more than good in my opinion. The long term mega residency in Vegas was probably kind of a 'sell out' move but can you blame him? He's gotten mega rich from it collecting something like a quarter million per gig. I'm not afraid to admit I actually enjoyed some of his early stuff, but totally lost me when he went to the sing along anthem style. That said, the dude is very talented far more so than the lot of 'big' EDM acts, I certainly wouldn't be going to see him anytime soon but the success is well deserved i'd say.

Totally, he’s a guilty pleasure of mine. His music is pretty simple, but always heavy catch in my opinion. Ha

I accidentally turned on Radio 2 last night (staunch 6 Music) and usual practice would be to shout abuse and quickly change back to 6 but the tune kept me listening as I liked the sound of the beat and turned out it was his new one with Sam Smith..... can't stand SS so tried to blot out the vocal but it definitely sounded different to CH stuff last few years.
