> Ibiza 123 Rocktronic Festival

i thought it was a really nice first day of the 123 festival. it wasn't super packed, but in the evening it was perfectly busy. as mackie already said, chic and sting were the standout acts yesterday. positively surprised by the fair pricing of everything inside the festival.

look forward to more today and tomorrow! 8)

Lots of cash lost on this already. It was a good idea but in my opinion, marketing of the festival was poor. I understand its difficult to attract certain artists when they are not touring but the mix was not right from the start. There was nothing edgy about it and in Ibiza it has to be different to attract the crowds.

Put an Ibiza Rocks festival in there and it would be a success due primarily due to the fact that they know their market so well. Kasabian @Ibiza Rocks for €40 with a free after party in Es Paradis or one day of Rocktronic for €65.....I know which party I would be at.

Hopefully they will stick at it and bring it back next year but they would radically need to change the format somehow......

out of interest , who is promoting it? ie where is the money going to? (or not as the case may end up)

Ibiza Rocks would be the obvious choice for an event like this just wondering why they havn't done this already (or not been allowed to id hazard a guess?)

Bunch of party poopers, you lot.

I think the event sounds (and from the photos, looks) ace and I'd definitely be there if I were on the island. Particularly Day 3.

I bet the place was buzzing last night after the football.

Would you go to a festival / event early if there were no acts / DJs you wanted to see?
I've been to many festivals where I've stayed in the campsite until later due to the above.

I wouldn't go and sit there listening to music I didn't really enjoy if I can be listening to music I do enjoy elsewhere.

No I wouldn't and it is a fair point but then maybe they should of made more effort to fill it up in he day with the acts.

Promoted by the Islands well connected big hitters most notably Pino Sagliocco who is a legend in Ibiza and the Spanish rep for Live Nation who have the majority of the Worlds big name artists on their books.

Ibiza Rocks would not be as well connected on the Island to get a project like this off the ground.

I guess i was getting at , have they tried to do it to retain as much of the money on the island as opposed to a private (uk) company coming in and taking it all? assuming ibiza rocks is a uk company that is.
Could ibiza rocks not have done something abit smaller? or are they too uk market focussed?

It would be very much an Island thing. Ibiza is good at keeping the revenue from the Island with the local economy.

Ibiza Rocks is an Ibiza brand. Andy Mc Kay and Dawn Hindle have lived on the Island for over 16 years now.

Ibiza Rocks dosent need to run a festival...what is has works very well for them....if its not broken dont fix it

Here is more info on the people behind the project

My ears are perfectly fine. Elton, sting and lenny are just not for me..

That is in my opinion the problem that this festival has...

What type of punter are they targeting these artists at???

While they are perfectly fine to listen to is your typical Ibiza Holidaymaker going to pay 65 for the privilege? I would guess that many that were there were all freebies or press passes...

But the festival is trying to do something different. Why simply put on a raft of djs to headline it when that's what you get at every club night in Ibiza? I think it's a good thing that they are doing duets with electronic artists as well they are creating something musically which is always refreshing.

seeing unprecedented names, never played in ibiza before, huge megastars in an incredible location for 65€.

or kasabian, a decent band that have played in ibiza several times in a 18-30 hotel for 40€ with an after party at a club you can always get into for free.

not bad value i reckon. in fact, it's more than fair, all things considered.

Yes I agree with you.

Its got great potential... they just have to get the mix right. Bring in younger, more contemporary artists. Copy the Ibiza Rocks format which is proven to work.....

Its not as if its lacking from experienced pros organising it.
