Its a bit dull actually. We all had a pocket kit with things like a plaster, some string, a pencil in it. They used to do a kit inspection each week and if you had forgotten any of your kit you had to pay a fine of 20p per item (which was a huuuuuge amount of money when I was eight I can tell you!) anyway I forgot the whole kit 2 weeks in a row (which was very much frowned upon because I was a sixer) so I ended up owing them about £4. They told me I wouldn't be let in the next week unless I paid my fines so I told Snowie Owl (who was a right bitter and twisted old cow who obviously hated children) where to go in a not too pleasant way, and when my mum came to pick me up she was told I was no longer welcome

Personally, I can't stand doing cardio inside... I think you get better results running outside than on a treadmill... and try and add some hills or sprints during the run

I don't think those machines tell you anything... calories burned etc..

for me, even though I hate it, the only way I feel fitter is if I get up and run or do some form of cardio in the am on an empty stomach.. I leave weights for after work.. no way could I do them in the morning

I need to do weights to see any results..

Its different for anyone, but for me diet is the key.. I could be going to the gym 10 times a week, but if I'm stuffing my face every day, I won't see any results.

Like everyone said, seeing your abs is all about getting your bodyfat % down... and I think different people can see their abs at different bodyfat%.. everyone is different
Well said, utagaura... other than the empty stomach part. I need a Nutrigrain bar or something about a half an hour before work out or I will pass out.

I find that when I am running on a consistent basis, my enitre body (including abs) gets so tight. To me, there is no other exercise like it. The only thing coming close is swimming (hard) or rollerblading while holding a very small weight and swinging arms. Get the music cranking, and an hour will pass before you know it!!

I recently sprained my ankle and haven't been able to run (until next week). I have done my share of in-place dancing, but the lack of running sucks. Most friends say my bod looks mostly the same, but it is the FEEL that counts. I feel "soft" and running is the only thing for me that cures it. I find that if I do minimal crunches (HATE working abs!) and run all the time, my body transforms within a week.

One word of advice... good running shoes are expensive, but worth it. Saucony, New Balance and Asics are my best recommendations. Some of the higher-end Adidas can work, but not enough support for my recurring shinsplints and ballerina-arches. The Nike Air Maxes are sweet looking and provide great support, but they just don't last I've found.

ps. Robder, from what I have seen you are super hot anyways, what u concerned about?!

Happy running!

-xoxo Sara

I'll be upping the running quote then, ta for the advice! ;)

Robder's getting lovely compliments! This is far more important than b___ and s__ o__ talk! 8O

(I propose that as a reward for all my dedication to the b___ cause, b___ o__ should upgrade me to s___ o__ status and we should elect a new s____! 8O It would be a great theme for the b___ anniversary party!)

We had a Brown Owl, a Tawny (sp?) Owl and a Snowie Owl (I think they made the last one up actually because none of my friends had one in their Brownie Group   )
