Great Films you've watched ....

I'm quite diverse when it comes to films, but some of my faves are:

pans labyrinth
i am legend
dogma
love actually
kevin & perry
donnie darko
v for vendetta
brassed off
shaun of the dead

2 knobs from gavin and stacy

Utter utter slander! :eek::lol::spank:

Recent additions to note...

The Reader - jolly good piece of filmmaking, and EasterislandStatue head puts in quite a breathtaking performance, though I think the "Ex Nazi concentration camp guard has an affair with a schoolkid" genre is getting a bit saturated these days. Really wish someone would come up with something original.

The Orphanage (or El Orphanto etc) - So so, seen it all before in The Others (though this is superior), and didn't nearly nail the classic set pieces as well as what it could have.

Not a fillum, but after having not seen it before and got tipped off to it from the missus, I did manage to watch the entire Our Friends In The North series (10.5 hours according to the DVD - polished off in 18 hours!) at the weekend - utterly gripping and entertaining stuff 8)

Friends in the North is fantastic

Just seen 'The Wrestler'. Now i see what all the fuss is about for Mr Rourke. What a performance !! Good film, amazing come back by Mickey boy !!

Watched 'burn after reading' last night. Fantastic movie, good dark twisted comedy by the Cohen Bro's.

I love loads of films mentioned in this thread, but as for truly 'great' films- my vote goes with (any) Kubrick, starting with my favorite 'Paths of Glory'

some strong racist lines in it but he's a war veteran afterall in the film
and some dodgy acting from the asian contigent ..... but good film 8)
I actually found the Hmong contingent more believable than Eastwood. They felt real. Eastwood came on too strong at the beginning and transformed a little to easily.

But still a good flick.

shawshank redemption
stand by me
motorcycle diaries
sleepers
casino
back to the future
white squall
