** GETTING IN SHAPE FOR SUMMER **

I basically do a full body workout every other day (3-4 full body workouts per week). First two weeks is 1 set per exercise at 15 reps. Second two weeks are 2 sets per exercise at 10 reps. Third two weeks are 3 sets per exercise at 5 reps. Last two weeks are 3 sets per exercise at 5 reps plus drop and/or negatives.

Interesting way of training.

How many exercises per muscle group though?

Just got in from a 7mile road run- my legs felt REALLY heavy for the last 2miles approx. No surprise given the amount of cardio Ive been doing lately. I felt good from a cardiovascular point of view tho, no problems with being out of breath, and I could have gone on longer cept for the soreness in my legs. 8)

Now for a big bowl of porridge! - then off the gym for some arm bicep work and some abs.

Might sneak a jaffa cake or 2 in later..................

My plan is 2 straight months Monday through Friday for 1 hour until I go to Barcelona and Ibiza. So far i completed 1 week but i didnt go on Friday. haha Will i see alot of improvement or a little if i work out straight these 2 months?

P.S. What are some good ab exercises?

Work outs

Good Topic - Work outs and diet.
I go to the gym four - five times a week and am never sure if i am doing things right.

I go running for 30 minutes every morning then ride my bike to work about 2.5km.

MONDAY - I go to Legs, bums and tums, followed by step arobics then Core (concentrates on the abs) .
TUESDAY - Have a rest/ or swim depends if i am feeling lazy
WEDNESDAY- Workout in the gym consists of 10 mins bike 60 minutes weights - 15 minutes treadmill. Then a swim.
THURSDAY - Legs,Bums and Tums - workout
FRIDAY - Aqua Arobics and weights

Then will go for a swim if i can fit it in on a sat or sunday.

I also do sit ups and LBT at home.

I am also on the GI Diet which is really really good. I baught all the books and they really help. It is very easy to understand and to stick to and you dont feel hungy at all. I think it is def one diet that actually works.

If any one wants any tips on GI just ask

If you buy two packs of special K you get a body fat measuring thingy for a fiver at the moment :)

Here is a list of the exercises I do:
Squats
DB Inc. Bench Press
Pullups
DB Shoulder Press
Bent over BB Row
Deadlift
Standing BB Curl
Lying Tricep Extension (Skull Crushers)
Standing Calf Press
Shoulder Shrugs

I'm starting the 3rd week tomorrow. I'll let you know results at the completion of the program.

Gosh everyone trains so hard - I'm starting to feel guilty now  All I do is go on the exercise bike at Mr Silvers' and a bit of yoga and some sit ups now and again. My diet is ok, but I've had to cut out bread, rice and pasta because it just ain't working for me at all.

I might start going jogging or something - I've got just under three months to get my act together!

GI Diet

If you want to loose weight the the GI DIET is def the way forward. I have been on it for a while now and it is brilliant.
It is all about optimising your energy levels.
You work out how much you weigh then that gets split into how many carbs, fat and protein you can have aday. You also have unlimited fruit and veg to fill up on. You then look at the the charts and work out how much if everything it. You eat three meals aday and have three snacks aday. My typical diet looks like this.

Breakfast: 30g All Bran, 150ml milk strawberry, or poridge instead of all bran.
Snack; Banana
Lunch:2 slices of pumpernikel bread, 2 slices of ham, a scrapping of low fat humous instead of butter/marg then lots of salad.
Or substitute with a wrap or salad or veg soup etc.
Snack:fruit or low fat cake bar or rivita with low fat cottage cheese etc.
Dinner: pork chop or chicken breast with loads of veg and gravy.
Snack:more fruit.

Its really easy to work out and very easy to follow. You can get GI Cook books so the food is by no means boring.

The best book i have found is THE LOW GI DIET - LOOSE WEIGHT FOR GOOD - by Jennie Brand Miller. It has a yellow cover and explains thing perfectly.

Mix this with exercise and you cant go wrong.

Someone told me that you lose more body fat working out for longer periods at lower heart rate zones (135 - 150 bpm) than shorter bursts at higher rates (155+) - eg. spin classes, intervals etc.

But surely you must burn some fat in spin classes and the like!!! Otherwise I've been caning it for nowt!

Can anyone shed some light?

Been trying the pills for about a week... Metabolife, non ephedra version because that stuff isn't legal here. I'm only taking 3-4 a day. It says you can take up to 6 a day, 2 to 3 at a time before meals, but 2 already makes me pretty damn hyper. What I'm not liking is that there's also an energy crash in the evening. hmm...
