Films....

War Horse - 2 and a half hours of my life i will never get back  really dont know what the hype was all about.

Ali - BF recommended it........yeah he wont be recommending films again

Friends with Benefits - Loved it :D

I saw The Kings Speech last week - well worth a watch, not sure it lives up to hype for me personally but a super noisy cinema and me and my mum sitting separately prob didnt help!!

Watched last night, excellent film. Wondered initially how the storyline could be dragged out into film length, worked beautifully 8.5/10.

Brighton Rock on Saturday, having read the book knew it was going to be dark and miserable, didn't disappoint on that score. Watchable but forgettable, probably doesn't do the superb book full justice 6 or 6.5/10.

I really enjoyed this, but then I quite like it 'dark'. Good few decent actors in it and the Pinky character was pretty scary. Haven't read the book or seen the previous film.

What did you think of the 'Rose' character? Personally I couldn't quite decide if she was a simmering sexy as hell sort or I was just wanting her to be a simmering sexy as hell sort!

When we first see her, I didn't expect she'd turn out to be the lead girl. But when she took her glasses off, yeah, pretty sweet in an unthreatening way. ;)

I didn't quite buy that she could fall in love so quickly with Pinkie, given how menacing he is. Don't know if he's more ambiguous or it's better explained in the book.

As a random side note, on David Lynch's album there's a track called 'Pinkie's Dream' - wonder if he's referencing this character? I can't think of many other Pinkies.

Maybe it was any port of call in a storm .. looking at the pretty dire existence she seemed to be having at her dad's :!:

I actually enjoyed the film. Thought Pinkie might have got his name from cutting off someone's little finger .. amazing how the mind works sometimes :!:

Yeah, maybe, and she was set up to look 'geeky'. Also have to remember the book was set much earlier in the century and women's expectations of men and relationships were probably quite different.

That's a good point, the film tried to mix the era of the Brighton razor gangs (the theme of the book) with mods and rockers invading the resort (many years after the book!).

Big film binge at the weekend, cleaning out the HDR: Gomorrah, The Acid House, The Fly (which I'd seen before, lots of times), The Woodsman, Exorcist: The Beginning, Last Days... All at least worth seeing, though that Exorcist film would have been better if they'd kept it more low-key.

Watched these both the other day. Obviously very different films, but I was surprised by bother. Both great films for their own reasons.

GWDT is gritty and Descendants is a deep meaningful movie about family ties.

Saw Anonymous the other day really good film and interesting storyline.

Also Hot Coffee, Being Elmo and Page One - Inside the New York Times are good for the documentry buffs

Saw 'The Vow' with the girls the other week and loved it :D im not into girlie films as such but im sure even some guys will admit its a good watch, better knowing its also based on a true story...

Off to see Safe House on Saturday - should be good, will review on Monday 8)

watched the Tourist - great for the skinny bint's clothes and the scenes round Venice - other than that - complete tosh....
