If you want a good horror try " the descent" it's fantastic and pretty full on, it's about 6 girls that go pot holing in some unexplored caves, the first half is quite gentle then it goes off silly.
That is a good one

me 2, never even heard of it
Rights that another film to add to the list to watch
The descent is scarey particularly the last scene of the film! Especially if you are slightly claustrophobic! I agree about special effects I dont like them I often find that the eerieness of halloween and Friday the 13th was what made it scarey, theres something creepy about old films with sh*t effects.
A newer film I did find very weird and scarey even with effects was Silent Hill
The most awful film I've ever seen which bothered me for some time after is Eden Lake, it almost made me angry that it was released.. I think it's quite an irresponsible film!
Is it gorey/creepy though?
"The Lost Boys"? Not really. It's more just bad-ass!! It's kind of stylish for it's time, but still had a bit of a hard edge to it. Just check it out. You won't regret it.
Oh and i watched a film last night called 4,3,2,1 and it was total dog s**t, an hour and a half of my life i will never have again.
There is one "gorey for it's time" bit in the lost boys where they eat the gang of baldy men and rip their heads off but you can't see it very well and compared to todays Saw's and Hostel's it is nothing, TLB is more about the nstory than being scarey. As for Eden Lake it's not a horror and I wish more people had seen it so I could discuss my anger lol it just shook me a bit how graphic and real it was
That is a good one
So what would you classify "Eden Lake" as? Maybe suspense or the like? I can't say I've ever even heard of it. But sounds like it was pretty disturbing. Those extra realistic ones are hard to take sometimes. OHHHHH!!!! I almost forgot. Another newer one that was absolutely fantastic was "The Strangers". OH MAN. That was one that sent chills down my spine. Still creeps me out to this day. If you haven't seen it, I HIGHLY recommend it. And if you really want to get freaked out, watch it stoned...HAHA!!
The Strangers sounds familiar - not seen it but is someone quite famous in it? Or am I thinking of The Others with Nicole Kidman
Eden Lake is a British film similar to the strangers only harder to stomach, the ending has a good twist but it's but it's not a happy one!
It's worth watching just so you can give your opinion about it. The only 2 people I've ever spoke to who had seen the film agreed that it is a disturbing film of the highest order
