Erick Morillo

In that case - the fact the ‘industry’ knew and did little about it for 20 years - and he was still being booked by promoters at the highest level, club owners etc and seemingly his management weren’t managing him properly then everyone involved in the industry is culpable.

100%. That's what needs to happen. No more acceptance of this. It's late. everyone is on drugs, 2 days in, you still can't have sex with anyone without their consent

Never liked his sets at all or his partys. Thought he was massively overrated and from i saw of him personally up close and through people was that he was a bit of a twat. Really immature dude.

Don’t like very much his music either , but he was a master in his DJing technic .
He had also the most successful party @ Pacha in the early 00’s and was a Ibiza ‘s legend .
About his private live and what he did I don’t have a clue , just talking about the public men .

It's a little one sided. "Womanizer" doesn't equate to "rapist".

We will now probably never know for sure what happened there, but given his wealth, I find it very strange that none of his supposed countless victims sued him for big money over rape allegations. Isn't it a common practice in the USA?

Eeesh.....really concerning to see people on here questioning what constitutes as rape. It really is no wonder that many sexual assault cases get left unreported - and even the ones that do rarely get to see justice.

Whilst of course it’s not our place to speculate, numerous stories about his sleazy nature with women have cropped up over the years - surely that holds enough bearing?

It’s undeniable that he had a big influence on the electronic scene, but that doesn’t mean we can turn a blind eye to the allegations and attribute it to his ‘dark, troubled mind’. It’s utter bollocks - there are many people with troubled pasts who don’t sexually assault people. It’s no excuse.

If it’s suicide, he evidently wasn’t willing to face the consequences for his actions. If you don’t want to face consequences - don’t rape people. Simple as that.

yeah @tclubber I'm sorry but I don't think that comment was very appropriate.
I recognize my comment can be considered offensive by some and I apologize for that.

I agree unreported rape is a huge problem - but there were also a number of high profile cases of men being ruined by false rape accusations, this should be kept in mind.

Since opinions expressed here are pretty clear, I guess I'll just abstain from posting on this thread in order to avoid creating trouble on this very pleasant forum :)

healthy discussion is good, you've noticed yourself the comment may have (and in some cases has) been received offensive.

IMO, no matter how deep anyone's pockets, rape accusations should ALWAYS be taken serious

An important observation mate.

As damaging to the falsely accused, as it is to the genuine victims ?

The understanding of the concept 'consent' is the whole problem here I think.

When does someone feel consent? Before it happens? High on drugs, dancing with each other, barely clothed? During the sex? Do two people always have to ask consent in a literal way, like: "do you want me to penetrate you?"

And, tough and sensitive question I know...does consent go away and gets annulled when someone regrets that it happened?
Note that every summer or party season or saturdaynigth for my part, lots of people regret having sex with someone. Perhaps even doubting if they would have done it if they were sober. But that does not mean it's rape.

Now I'm not saying this was the case with Erick Morillo. It looks like he made the grey area of the concept a bit bigger if the girl was really sleeping...I'm just saying people have a different understanding of 'consent' and it would be very wise if we teach the next generation about the concept...the yes...the no and the grey area.
