- Eden will be back next year -

Does anyone think that an old skool night would work in Ibiza in the likes of Eden ? Music from the late 1980's to the late 1990's and all the old skool djs from that era? I'm 38 and for the past few years I always said to the missus wouldn't it be class if there was an old skool night when we where here , maybe there wouldn't just be enough around the age group to be interested in an old skool night and not worth for a promoter to do but to be standing in a club in ibiza with some old skool tunes banging out would be just like being in paradise :)

I've asked that myself plenty of times. I think weekly it wouldn't work (not enough oldskool lovers there to make it work), but maybe once a month?

the clockwork orange weekend was great last summer and I'm confident it will be cool again this year. maybe they could do more than one date per summer, but too many won't work.

Yea definitely agree ,it would be just brilliant if when I come out in August that an old skool night was being held around that time it would make my holiday but if there's not I'm sure I'll have a cracker time no matter what :)

the fact that Retro retreated from having a weekly event suggests that it wouldn't work

The trouble with oldskool is that most oldskool ravers are like yourself a lot older, have kids, mortgages, jobs with responsibility etc. Jollies to Ibiza slide right down the list, and when your targetting an older crowd, that means smaller numbers.

Plus you've got one off week events catering to the crowd that do fancy Ibiza.

Eden used to have Retro, which was an old skool house night and es Paradise used to have Helter Skelter Deja Vu, which was more oldskool hardcore/jungle... I didnt go to either, those sort of events are 10 a penny in London, so didnt see the point!

Ibizas bread and butter has to be an upfront music policy but agreed, a monthly old skool night could at that extra flavor though.
 
Old skool djs, whether it be playing old skool music like a flashback sort of night or present surely once a month would work. Coco I'm 38 also and visit every year for the closings and the amount of people our age or older seems to be growing year on year. Eden is a great club and the right sort of nights would defo pull the crowds in aslong as it doesn't price itself out the game with 50/60 euro entrance fees like some of the super clubs charge.

Exactly mate but I'm not into the promoting side of things so money wise I'm not clued up , surely there could be some kind of market once a month old skool dj/ music in Eden every year there's always some dj playing some old skool sets out in ibiza pity it just couldn't be put into and monthly thing , I listened to an rob tissera set from kayna on sound cloud from last year and omg what a set it had all the classics I was just picturing myself there busting some moves under the sun , hopefully next year

Funny you say that about kanya, was there in September in the daytime having a few beers with the missus and some dj was on playing some old house classics, I said to the missus I could stay here all day listening to this and the place was packed with a mixed crowd. I reckon a monthly spot could take off with a few of the older djs.
